Ex-CPIB assistant charged for cheating and theft

SINGAPORE - A former officer at the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) was charged in court today for cheating and theft.
Christopher Gan Boon Khong, 25, an Investigation Assistant, is accused of 15 offences - two counts of theft of credit and debit cards, 12 of cheating and one of causing hurt, The Straits Times reported.
The CPIB said in a statement today that Gan resigned from the service on July 4 last year.
It added: "The CPIB does not condone any criminal or improper acts by its officers. Errant officers will be dealt with and can expect to face criminal and/or disciplinary proceedings if they are involved in any wrongdoings."
