How presumptuous of you to assume that all the young people have the good life.

Even if they do, it's probably not as good as you well-fed PAP dogs.

And if they don't have the good life, it does not preclude them from aspiring for the non-tangible things in life e.g. freedom of speech.

A debate about 'freedom of speech' shouldn't even take place if the Constitution does its job properly. But since you pappies want to hoard power and crush dissent ('responsible speech'!), that obviously never happened.

It a unspoken rule that politicians will want to fight election battle from a position of strength by creating the perception that they are gaining grounds. This is done with the aim of swaying public opinions as well as to maintain morale of party workers. Remember when GCT claimed the chikus was ripped in HG, not only did PAP failed to retake HG, but they lost with a wider margin.

Hence there is no need to take all these pre-election talks too seriously.
