More cheating case since 2 casinos were build

Least the Investigating Officer can do is to publish his photo..

Once we have a good description of him, we may if lucky find him at the baccarat table in MBS..

At least, we have a small chance of recovering part of his loot before he finishes it off on the baccarat table.

An angry crowd of around 30 customers gathered outside a car dealership in MacPherson Road yesterday afternoon to demand their money back.

They believe they had been conned of their downpayments for their new cars - between $20,000 and $40,000 each - by the director of Volks Auto, a parallel importer.

Said Mr Kenny Lim, 36, who paid a $37,000 deposit for a Honda Vezel S meant as a gift for his father: "I almost wanted to smash the glass down to get in."

At $108,000, including a certificate of entitlement for the car, it was a bargain.

The same car usually went for $130,000 at other parallel importers.

Said another angry buyer: "Jover Chew is nothing compared to this."

really stupid greedy sinkie. any idiot would tell you that the price is too good to be true when your competiytors charged 20k more.

this mickey-mouse game continues,....

As far back as back in y2000, Does anyone remember,..

Auto Asia - David Koh,. ex-Fiat Salesman,..obtained KIA Car Agency,..offered low prices,...many paid booking fees,...got burnt.

Such scams continue in Singapore, simply because it gives the Reporters stories to write, Lawyers ,..litigation work to do,..and regulators, reasons to pretend to work.

Singapore remains a very back-ward swash-bucking commercial city.

these cheating cases like sim lim sq are very common and predates from 1980s. you have all sort of cheaters in tour companies, car rentals, wine sellars, etc, even time share. collect deposit and then fold up and declare bankrupt. all these are the fault of the garmen who just cannot be bothered coupled with a sinkie propensity to cheat and a sinkie stupidity to believe everythin in life got "lobang". you don't have these fark up cock ups in australia, UK or US. in these countries you got ombudsman and case are settled with 1-2 weeks. no need to lodgepolice report or lawyers(who are crooks who would drag on the case for a slice of the pie). all cheaters are charged in court if the ombudmans think so and then the penalty is heavy ie a jail sentence and blacklist for setting any compnay. in US three cheating cases and you get jail for life ie 20 years in the slammer. that's right. it's called a strike three rule.
in malaysia, macau and HK these cases are very rare, its simple. these cheaters get mark for extermination by the triads. you never know when your victim would put out a job on the cheaters. you can run but cannot hide. vigilante policing at its best. thats why nobody dares to cross the line in malaysia and HK.
fark up CASE, poodles and garmen with a stupid greedy mentality of the victims.

It looks like car dealership Volks Auto has taken money from even more people.

There are now 98 people who are known to have paid downpayments to buy cars with Volks Auto but who are only realising now that they might not be able to get their money back.
The director of the car dealer, Alvin Loo, have now disappeared and attempts to reach him have been impossible.

And the total amount that Volks Auto has taken from them?

A hefty S$3.2 million.

Mr K K Lo, 53, an IT manager, is trying to draw together the picture with the other victims, by pulling together the police reports that have been made and the sales agreements.
He is one of those who paid up but did not get his promised car.

And there might be even more victims.

Yesterday, there were 60 people who met at the McDonald’s outlet in Kallang to compare their documents.

“Everyone hopes to get back a refund, but apparently looking at the situation, I don’t think it’s good,” Mr Lo today Today yesterday.

“How to get back the refund? It all very much depends on the police to help us. As victims, we have limited power (and) we can’t do much."

After Jover Chew, Quiche Nail Spa and Cuddles Cat Cafe, is Volks Auto the new kid in town?

What is happening to Singapore?

Is it really turning from a shopper's paradise to becoming a scammer's paradise?

Car dealer took 'more than $3m in deposits'

97 people claim to be 'victims' of parallel importer Volks Auto

By Kok Xing Hui

Car buyers claim they have lost more than $3 million to Volks Auto after paying deposits for imported models that never arrived.

As of 4pm yesterday, there were 97 "victims" in a list compiled by Mr K.K. Lo, who is leading the group of disgruntled customers. The average amount they had paid in deposits was $20,000 to $30,000.

Volks Auto owner Alvin Loo, 36, has gone missing and the dealership's doors have been shut since last Saturday when the first group of buyers made their police report. Customers said his phone had an overseas ringtone when they called him last Thursday, and the unanswered calls led to voicemail messages from Hong Kong and later China.

Calls to his mobile number yesterday could not be connected.

According to a neighbour, Mr Loo's house in Jalan Melor has been empty for about two weeks. He used his home address to register his business. Retiree Eric Soh told The Straits Times that three or four men and a woman moved into the bungalow three months ago. Two weeks ago, he saw lorries arriving to take away furniture and he has not seen any movement in the house since. "They kept to themselves and never said hi," he said.

Parallel importers, such as Volks Auto, purchase cars from dealers overseas and sell them in the local market for a profit, typically at prices lower than authorised dealers'.

Another parallel importer, Swift Garage, has offered to sell cars to Volks Auto's customers at "close to cost price" and without a deposit. Swift Garage partner Lee Yee Theng said he wants to redeem confidence in the parallel import industry, adding he had not received any inquiry calls since the news about Volks Auto broke on Monday.

If this was planned then he will probably get away with it. Just like that Jover guy from the Sim Lim Sq incident.

This guy deserves a National Day award, or a tea session with the PAP. He'll make a fine minister one day. It's in his DNA.

Sinkie children have been raised to believe that morals be damned, so long as you rake in the cash you are the king.

That is why a PAP minister is their greatest role model... the salary. The ones who own a business replicate the same money extraction methods: screwing over customers, suppliers, employees. The females don't bat an eyelid spreading their legs for a promotion or extra pocket money.

This is the core Singapore Spirit. It made us transform from third world swamp to first world hotel. It should be celebrated for SG50.
