PM Lee says the next GE will be a "deadly serious" fight. It'll be a deadly serious fight alright. Because if the PAP wins the two thirds majority again, it could spell 5 more years of disastrous policies; more transport fare hikes, 10% GST, more immigration, the loss of national heritage and nature, pro elitist economic policies, censorship, suppression of civil liberties, unfair job competition and many more.

It's official, the PAP and Lee Hsien Loong are scared shitless.

Unfortunately, I think this time the PAP will fight very dirty, because much is at stake. Dirtier than the incidents in the past: JBJ/Anson, Tang Liang Hong the 'Chinese chauvinist', loitering outside polling station etc.

Gay Loong say if you vote more Oppos, he has to work harder 'cos people checking him

This fucking PM has no concept of what a democracy is. Its checks and balances that make democracy what it is. His attempts to persuade sinkies to not vote oppo is so infantile and amateurish.

SINGAPORE: Singapore's next General Election will be a deadly serious fight between the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) and the opposition.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the General Election will be about who forms the government, and not just how many seats the opposition gets.

Mr Lee, who is also the Secretary General of the PAP, was addressing about 2,000 cadres at the party's 60th anniversary rally on Sunday (Dec 7). He said the General Election will be about whether Singapore continues to have a first world government, and not about "a first world parliament".

Mr Lee argued that the vision of a first world parliament set out by the opposition Workers' Party during the last election in 2011 has turned out to be an empty promise. Singapore's next General Election must be held by January 2017 at the latest.

Mr Lee said that every seat, GRC and SMC will be a national contest, and not just a local one. In addition, every seat will be a General Election, not a by-election.

Mr Lee said the opposition do not see their duty as being to bring people together, solve problems or plan for the future. This is because the opposition have not articulated any vision for Singapore, as they say they cannot form the government.

Mr Lee said the opposition have adopted this position because they are trying to avoid answering hard questions until they get elected. He also reminded cadres about the opposition parties' strategy to ask Singaporeans to vote for them so they can act as a check on the PAP, and make the Prime Minister and his team work harder.

Mr Lee said that if Singaporeans accepts this, Singapore will only see politicians checking each other, and there will be gridlock like in other countries. He added that for every one more "checker" in parliament there will be one less doer, thinker and leader in the government to serve the nation and the people.

And he said there may come a time when there will be no PAP to check, no able team of ministers working and solving problems for Singapore, and no progress for the country. Mr Lee urged party cadres to fight to win the election, and to win convincingly.

He said the party will reinforce the team further in the next General Election. The party already has already identified many promising candidates including a few potential office holders.

"winner is king and loser is bandit". dirty election tricks can be found everywhere. if the PAP wins the election, they are "right". who gives a shit about a clean election, who cares about the injustice of the Opposition losers. if the PAP employs its m&d cannons at the Opposition next election, they should be smart enough not to just avoid it and to blast it back too.

There are basically 2 ways to fight an election

Firstly to fight from a position of strength. If u are the underdog, pretend u are gaining ground or stand a good chance to score an upset. This is to maintain morale of party workers and supporters. If you are leading, make it appeared as if you are widening the gap with opponents. Other than maintaining morale, it to capitalize on the bandwagon effect.

Second way is to do the opposite. Sound the alarm that u are lagging or appear to be in danger of losing power. This is create a sense of urgency amongst your supporters. It commonly used when u sense that your voter base are getting complacent or there is some erosion of support. .

And this is exactly what LHL was tryng to do - create the sense of urgency among the vote swingers and deter them from voting opposition by reminding them the consequences of their actions might lead to a change of government. It a fact that policies in recent years under LHL had alienated alot of middleground voters and sensing the discontentment on the ground, LHL was merely capitalizing on the fact that Sinkieland voters in general feel insecure about changing government however unhappy they are because we don't have anyone capable of replacing PAP.

Thus I don't think it right to construe it as defeatist on the part of PAP but rather it just one strategy of fighting election . And chances are PAP is going to employ this tactic in the coming election.

PM Lee says the next GE will be a "deadly serious" fight.

The fear within the PAP and the FamiLEE is already there.. They can feel it..

History have shown that the Pappy Scums would do everything to silence their critics..

First move by the Pappies is by stoking fear in the hearts and minds of daft Sinkies by reminding them of the so called consequences of voting for the Oppos..

If that fails, then character assassination of their political opponents is another one of their favorite trusted tactics..

Re: Gay Loong say if you vote more Oppos, he has to work harder 'cos people checking

Since he say every seat is a national contest then just group entire sg into a huge single GRC with 80+ seats.
Opposition might not even be able to field a team.....walkover pap wins

Now Pinky is mental mind fucking the brains of daft Sinkies by issuing this cowardly threat that there will be no progress for this country if the PAP is to be kicked out of power one day.. Daft Sinkies must learn that there is still life even after the PAP is gone..

Probably Pinky will make it compulsory for PRs and work-permit holders to vote and will revoke them if they don't vote for his party.

All the middle ground swing voters need to do is to look back on the past 10 years of Lee Hsien Loong's rule as PM, see his track record, and see what's happening around you. It is no longer just about jobs or the economy or housing prices or any of those frivolous things. It is the moral duty of voters to vote out the PAP, or at least keep its powers in check. You must make a stand in a moral crisis.
