These students gave their lives free of charged for the people.

They helped at the General Hospital when one was killed in a Jap shelling.

The others took him out for burial when more shells and bombs rained down, killing all.......

Tell that to the million dollar politicians. They will never understand......

Look at the names of the students - Got Chinese, Indians including Singh, got malays and Eurasians....

If they did not die, they could have been Ministers when Singapore became independent.....

So sad all died..... best of our students in 1942

We are always looking for Singaporean heros and heroines.

Here They are ..... but our school books don't even mention them.....

The contributions of these 11 medical students should not be forgotten, just like Lt Adnan and the fighters of Dalforce.

Not so sure about kempei tai translators though ...

Lee Kuan Yew made far greater sacrifices for the country.

well ifyou meant he did Not press his ex boss to give him perks n million$ pay becuase he can b corrupted. its simple that he was a twit. n that is no sacrifice at all. someone did point out that no one pointed a gun on his head to force him one. n another point out His worth is between 3 'rupee or 3 lakhs or 3 rupiah.

Lee Kuan Yew made far greater sacrifices for the country.

Nelson Mandela made sacrifices for the country. Aung San Sui Kyii did likewise. It is debatable LKY made sacrifices for Singapore. We can agree he did work very hard. Much of his political life was spent redeeming himself for the mess he made with Malaysia. He succeeded magnificently of course but he had help and no shortage of luck. If we want to give him credit we should recognize his unsurpassed leadership skills and his immense intelligence.

If LHL were not so well rewarded for his job, I would consider his the greater sacrifice. I can very much bet he would rather have done something else than be PM. But his father needed him so what could he say.

who the hell buries their dead during japanese shelling? Its not like these people do not know that a war is happening. Can they not hear the gunfire and shell whistling down? Is it not possible to have a couple of coolie ditch diggers dig the grave, put the colleague's body in there and bury it. And later when there is a lull maybe, one by one or two by two, they can come out and pay their respects at the burial site. To risk such short staff medical personnel is like putting all your eggs in one basket and then dropping the basket.

Seems to me like the Japs have already registered their guns on the hospital. For one shell to kill 11 people is very good shooting. On the same day as this incident, the Alexander Hospital massacre took place where the Japs went into the hospital and slaughtered wounded and staff. So, the Japs were close to the hospital and yet these people took the time to bury a colleague in the open. That's ballsy but stupid. In fact the next day on 15th Feb, the British surrendered. A needless loss of 11 qualified health professionals.
