tan jee say is such an opportunist to try to take on tg pagar grc. seriously speaking, the opportunity might be there but then again, tjs doesn't have the good fortune to taste it.

it's strange that he should ve usurped SDP first then proceed to step 2 to overtake tg pagar. he has already missed a very important step and that could be his misstep and fatality. voters sure would question: if he can't even rule and run small opp fraction, how's he gonna runa super grc of so many wards and voters?

I believe TJS and some others left the SDP and never returned probably because he spotted some latent problems, just like you.

As for why he chose to join an existing party in the first place, I guess it was because he had to keep his political venture under wraps until close to GE 2011, which rules out forming his own party back then. SDP probably offered him the best permutation of location, team and opponent, never mind the party branding.

It was possible that he had contemplated to eventually settle in SDP and play an important role somewhat, but realized that he can't be a successor to the leadership because the leadership was younger than him.

there are too many and redundant opp parties in the market now and voters are simply confused by them. this in turn is an added advantage to the pap.

the wisest and prudent would be to do a deja vu like csj ie, to displace him from the rein like he displaced cst. look what happen to sdp after csj took over. it never goes forward. in fact, it goes backward and become a personal vendetta for csj to exploit the party against the pap. that wasn't really a wise strategy. not only it created a notoriety for sdp, it confirms to the voters to avoid support it :(

that's a very sad case cos SDP all along when with cst had the highest probability to be the strongest opp. instead it has now reduced to a nonedescript :(

if tjs is shrewd enought, he should take over sdp and re-brand it that it is fully for the betterment of the people instead of being rumoured "by a hidden foreign entity" which csj has all along never come clean and clear about. :(

For the pioneer generation they need their CPF to survive in expensive Spore. What is preventing them from getting their CPF is the PAP.
For the younger generation they are having problems competing with all the millions of foreigners now in Spore.

Haven't seen the PAP doing anything to change the realities in Spore. If the opposition can field candidates, people like me will vote for them. In the past my opposition to the PAP was because I believe you needed an opposition in parliament to counter people like LKY, LHL,....

However it has now become very personal because the PAP is blocking me from my CPF

More or less. Plus closest fit of ideology among all the other parties: his $60 bil National Regeneration Plan was very liberal.

He wanted to continue with SDP, provided CSJ handed over the sec-gen position right away. CSJ refused, and he left.

Nope. SDP would have no problems with Schools Regeneration and Enterprise Regeneration, as it has emphasized creative education for many years. However, it would not welcome Industry Regeneration since it wants these industries to be here AND be allowed to compete here. Its focus is on cheap housing rather than infrastructure development found in Community Regeneration which would drive up property costs. And its focus appears to be more on healthcare costs than on bed spaces found in Hospitals Regeneration, although the 2 aren't really irreconcilable.

Tan Jee Say was given a ticket for profiling and "common enemy" reasons. There would be too little time to reconcile his National Regeneration Plan with SDP's position which are found in Chee's books like Our Future, My Faith, Our Freedom.

That sounds impudent, but it could have be done in a way that was more palatable. TJS has to realize that he is talking to a younger person who has more years left in his life, while CSJ could have made plans for him like the way Chiam made plans for him when he first came forward.

Are you all speculating what happened for TJS to leave SDP or is it true?

so tjs left sdp becos of an internal power struggle which csj refused to give way? does that mean that csj is still hogging the rein even though he can't accomplish anything much?

if compared to lky, isn't this the same mentality?
