Man, 21, jailed for having sex with girl, 13

His crimes could have gone unnoticed, if not for the fact that the 13-year-old girl was discovered to be pregnant during a medical check in a hospital in July this year.
Muhammad Nur Hakim Abdullah, 21, had met the teen in January. The next day, she agreed to be his girlfriend.
She cannot be named as she is a minor.
Yesterday, Muhammad was sentenced to a total of 17 months' jail - 12 months for two charges of sexually penetrating a minor and five months for two charges of being absent for urine tests.
Court documents showed that Muhammad knew the teen's age. A day after being introduced to her, Muhammad checked her wallet and found her ez-link card which stated the girl's date of birth.
She had also confirmed her age to Muhammad when he asked her.
The court heard that a few days later in January, Muhammad took the girl to his flat where his two siblings were present.
When his siblings left the house, Muhammad, who was then 20 years old and unemployed, told the girl that he wanted to have sex.
She initially ignored him, but gave in when he asked her repeatedly. The couple then had unprotected sex.
UNPROTECTED SEX
At a later occasion in January, Muhammad took the girl to a cubicle in a men's toilet at Bishan Park II, where they had unprotected sex again.
In his defence, Muhammad's lawyer told the court that his client came from a "sad background" and he did not have a father in his life. For having sex with a minor, Muhammad could have been jailed up to 10 years or fined, or both.
For failing to report for his urine tests, he could have faced a jail term of up to four years or a maximum fine of $10,000, or both.
