This fucking bitch only know how to talk big, her own party bases everything on paper qualifications. SO many scholars are in her party. I defy her party to put an MP on the bench that does not have a uni degree.

Parents, students and employers need to look beyond paper qualifications and recognise workers' skills and abilities - something the Government is committed to doing - said Senior Minister of State for Law and Education Indranee Rajah.

But, she acknowledged yesterday, this will take time.

"The traditional thinking was that there's only one path to success, but I think the reality is that it is much more complex," said Ms Indranee, who led the Applied Study in Polytechnics and ITE Review (Aspire) committee.

Last month, the Government accepted Aspire's recommendations to improve the quality of education and job prospects of Institute of Technical Education and polytechnic students.

She is speaking the truth. Employers look beyond paper qualifications. But having a paper is the basic foundation people will take you seriously and grant you an interview.

Such talk from an MP basically shows that election is drawing near and they are trying to win more voters over. After the election they will turn around and says that those with qualifications will bring quality works. Or better yet our local qualifications does not meet the necessary work profile, let get more foreign talents.

Looking at qualifications all these years have served Singapore well. We are advanced while our neighbours still live in cess pits. Look at the huge amount of Ah Nehs, Pinoys, Tiongs and Malaysians who want to live and work in Singapore.

I don't see the govt matching their words with actions.

Firstly all civil service and GLC are academic conscious. Not only are they particular about a person's paper qualification, the university u come from also matters. It operate like a keleng caste system, highest the scholar caste, local graduate caste, overseas graduate caste and the lowest off-shore degree caste.

Secondly they are saying there isn't enough executive jobs to support the number of graduates. Then why are they still importing foreigners with degree to compete with sinkies graduates for jobs?

Third none of the ministers and MPs set an example by sending their children to places like ITE or poly. How to convince the peasants?
