[h=1]ANOTHER TRAIN DELAY STRIKES NSL THIS MORNING, CAUSING PACKED CROWDS[/h]

Another train delay struck the North-South Line this morning as passengers were rushing to get to work.
The train delays at 7am in the morning today caused passengers to stand on crowded platforms while waiting for the trains, which were arriving at delayed durations of between 5 mins and 7 mins.
The latest train delays were most likely caused by a train fault at the Ang Mo Kio MRT Station.
Train operator SMRT did not provide any updates on the latest train delay.
The Singapore MRT system has been faced by countless breakdowns and delays since the start of this year and there does not seem to be any reprieve for Singapore commuters.
Last week, an incident at the Lakeside MRT station caused commuters to be packed like sardines on an escalator going upwards as the platform was filled but no one stopped the commuters from going up.
The passenger who posted the image of the latest train delay at Sembawang under the #SMRT hashtag said that it was a #greatstart2wed.
In February this year, SMRT CEO Desmond Kuek said, “SMRT takes a serious view of all defects and makes every effort to investigate and address the root cause of every incident to draw out the relevant lessons to avert future occurrences”.
SMRT also explained that the train breakdowns are due to “An ageing network, many parts of which are 25 years old”.
It also said that the “higher operational loading and inadequate capacity today … has put increased strain on the trains and tracks.”
SMRT defended its record by saying that, “Some of the reasons for delays or disruptions are not within SMRT’s control such as when inclement weather.”
It also said that the number of train delays have decreased last year and SMRT has become more reliable.
