The claim for expert witness Dr Hong Ga Sze, a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre CUT TO $5,000 from $42,000

The judgment: Dr Hong Ga Sze, a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, provided a written opinion and gave testimony for one day, during the first disciplinary committee's hearing. But his $14,000 bill for a day's expert evidence was very high, particularly since it "did not involve complex, technical or medical expertise", said Ms Lim.

The testimony needed from Dr Hong and another expert witness, consultant medical oncologist Dr Tan Yew Oo, was on what was considered reasonable for a doctor to charge. Dr Tan, the more senior medical expert, had charged $700 for each hour he was on the stand, and $200 every hour for time spent waiting. His bill of $12,145 was reduced to $9,000.

"Dr Hong's fees of $6,000 just for 'standing by' - waiting to take the witness stand - are also exorbitant," said Ms Lee. She also criticised his separate $6,000 bill for preparing the trial report, for which Dr Tan had charged only $1,000. She took issue as well with another $14,000 charged by Dr Hong, an SMC council member since last year, for his trial preparation which stretched from March 2009 to February 2010. The period started "even before the notice of inquiry was issued" to Dr Lim, she noted.

yes the system is screwed. SL charged more than $50 millions including $28 m for 1 month and nothing much happened. these people charged less than 0.001% and got all screwed immediately.

And the guy is still serving in the Council, passing judgement on others?
Being appointed to the Council was the reward for trying to screw Susan Lim in court?

Just wondering if past patients can ask Dr Hong for a 88% discount of their medical bills - the same percentage that the courts slashed his bills.
Can one safely that this doctor overcharges every patient of his by the same over-charge?

wahhahahah. no need to wait next year. like I said, alot of people esp that narong guy and company who are in denial and talk c@ck and deluded by what they read in the shitty times who are always trying to talk up the sickest market in the world.
Nobody interested in BTO or HDB flats which is for the laymen and hoi polloi. what everyone is interested in in the private sector esp the high end. It has already crashed in some people's opinion (see reference below) by as much as 30-50% from 2007. This coming from CNBC bankers and insiders who know the real health or sickness of the local markets. The high end is really tanking. even sentosa have dropped 30-50% fr some bungalows and nobody buying. after a while somebody 'has' to sell to get the cash out when interests rates rise and takes the lower price and then the logjam is broken and all prices come down. 70% drop for high end is a very real possibility. hahahhah. read all my old posts . I predicted this way back in 2012-2014 early this year. feels good isn't it.

quote ".Despite dire predictions of sharp drops, Singapore's property prices don't seem to have budged much, but statistics may mask a market already in deep decline.................. While many analysts cite property price gains from 2009 when the index hit its financial crisis nadir, Shlaen believes the high-end never really recovered after hitting a pre-financial crisis peak in 2008.

"2009 was a cardiac arrest. If you compare the high-end property prices of 2007 with now, the market is substantially down," he said, estimating luxury property prices are off 30-50 percent from their peak. ...................."

We have a whole bunch of crooks in the SMC and in that law firm is the conclusion that one draws.

How much did Chee Soo Juan steal? that they branded him a thief?? These people learnt from the best of the land....& it is customary to charge at an exorbitant price for they are EXPERTS & they will tell you too, that, they come at a BARGAIN.

Does all these sound familiar...."ring a bell"..or "ring my bell"??
