Democratic elected ruling parties have generally floundered after about half to three-quarters of a century, he said, giving examples such as Mexico’s Institutional Party, which lasted 71 years, and India’s Indian National Congress, which lasted 49. The PAP has been in power since 1959.

Mr Ho said there are three possible causes for the PAP to lose power, including a freak election, a split in the PAP, or a massive loss in legitimacy. However, Mr Ho added the last cause is not likely to happen.

This is because there is no evidence that corruption has increased in Singapore’s public life despite a few scandals involving mid-level bureaucrats, and Singapore “remains exemplary” among its neighbours and counterparts in developed countries for its low level of corruption.

Singapore was ruled by a bully and tyrant and is build on Sinking sand.

VTO 2016 PAP will see expedite change over of a New Singapore.

Civil servants are intimidated by PAP Leegime and time for them to make these changes and dare to VTO PAP out.

When shames are in civil services no good men will want to come forward to serve the People.

Mr Ho Kwon Ping, the Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings and a fellow at SR Nathan explained that he believes the PAP may lose dominance in Parliament in only in 15 years and they will probably lose power only after at least another 25 years.

He was speaking at an IPS-Nathan Lecture on the NUS Cultural Centre today when he laid out these possible scenarios.

Mr Ho explained that historical trends would indicate that the PAP will lose an election only in the second half of the next 50 years.

He was referring to “historical trends” such as the Mexico Institutional Party losing power after 71 years and India’s Indian National Congress losing power after 49 years. Citing these examples, he said that PAP may lose power in half to three quarters of a century.

Mr Ho said that the PAP will likely only lose power is there is a freak election result, a fundamental split in the PAP or a massive loss in legitimacy. However, he highlighted that the third scenario was probably very unlikely.

It is strange that Mr Ho believes the PAP will only lose dominance in 15 years. After the massive loss of votes in the last general election until the PAP only holds 60.1% of the popular vote, what makes him think that the PAP can keep its dominance in Parliament for at least another 3 elections?

In fact, the PAP seems to be getting more desperate to silence critics and keep dissenting views out of the public sphere as evident from the recent banning of political films and the investigation into several activists who wanted to speak out.

It seems Mr Ho is looking only at past examples from other countries and is not in tune at all with the sentiments of the voters in Singapore.
How much longer do you think the PAP can hold onto power?

A lot will depend on when LKY dies. It's the same story everywhere: once the strongman dies, the regime collapses or splinters up.

Let's see if he's still alive during NDP 2015, or if he gets magically 'teleported' into the camera view.

This former PAP critic is so ashamed of his past that he appeared very uncomfortable when he was quizzed about it during a BBC World News programme last year. He was in London at that time.

He didn't answer the news presenter's question.
