hi,

motorcycles DO NOT contribute to traffic jams, cos' they are small, and continuously moving.

Why does the motoring public, push the motorcycle coe's to such a high price ?

Iss it really true now, that the loop hole, is the use for the Malaysian motorcycles
here, to do dispatch, delivery work ?

I check with LTA - and the customer service said, "Yes, Malaysian Motorcycles are allowed to work here - so long as there is Insurance coverage"

Isn't the Singapore authorities again screwing things up again, with many,..even more distorted-logic policies ?
Thanks

The rise in Motorcycle COE prices is testimony to the purchasing power of Singaporeans from all walks of life.

It shows that income levels have risen across the board thanks to the PAP.

In this part of the world, motorcycles have been for those who are unable to afford the pricier motorcar for their day-to-day commute and errands. The bulk of motorcycle sales have been small to medium sized models for rider and one passenger, with a few modified with sidecars for commercial use. Very few models were for sport (eg. Triumph Tiger, Nortons). In the last decade or so, there has been an increase in motorcycles for recreational use and we see a noticeable number of Harleys, Ducatis, BMWs and some high-end Japanese bikes as well. In this sector, 2k to 5k for COE is small change, and because there is no categorisation in the two-wheeled market, these models get lumped into the entire motorcycle market and pushes the price of COE up for ALL motorcycles. To be fair, it is time the LTA considers dividing the categories for motorbikess. It is ridiculous to have pay same COE premium for a Honda Cub model and a Harley-Davidson Sportster.

My take on this topic.

Cheers!
