SINGAPORE: M1 has suspended pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus after discovering a potential security breach. "As a precaution to protect our customers' personal information, we will be temporarily suspending pre-orders while we urgently investigate this issue," it said in a post on Facebook on Monday (Sep 15). A spokesperson said pre-orders were suspended at 7pm, and that the company is working to rectify the issue.

While M1 did not specify the nature of the potential security breach in its Facebook post, a member of the public reached out to Channel NewsAsia on Monday, saying that he found a security loophole at around 9pm on Sunday, while trying to get a new iPhone for himself.

He said using a cookie modifier plug-in on Google Chrome, he managed to access forms showing data from customers. Screengrabs and a video obtained by Channel NewsAsia appear to show that he was able to access information such as phone numbers, NRIC and home addresses.

He said he alerted M1 to this purported loophole by posting on its Facebook wall, and said he was asked to fill in a customer feedback form. "I am quite disappointed about that, because I am using M1 services myself," he said. As of Monday afternoon, he was still able to access the information.

The man, who said he was a Computer Science masters student, described the loophole as "a very simple, silly error" and said a sophisticated hacker would be able to download the whole database within hours.

Speaking to Channel NewsAsia, an M1 spokesperson confirmed that they would not be taking any action against the customer as they appreciate that he took the time to inform them of the issue.

"M1 places the utmost priority in protecting our customer data and privacy and has implemented strict processes and procedures to safeguard customer information, including conducting regular security audits. We will be conducting a full review on this incident," the spokesperson said.

Access to M1's website has been patchy since it started taking pre-orders for the new iPhones on Friday. It said on Monday evening that the first batch of iPhone 6 Plus handsets have been snapped up.

[h=1]iPhone 6 Factory in China Sees Spate of Cancer Deaths[/h] By Anthony Cuthbertson | IB Times – 8 hours ago

A factory in Shenzhen, China, that assembles iPhones and other Apple products, has reportedly witnessed 13 workers aged between 19 and 24 diagnosed with cancer. Five have died from the disease.

An investigation by the Mail on Sunday found that the factory workers had contracted leukaemia, potentially as a result of exposure to dangerous cleaning chemicals used in the plant.

Apple has previously been accused of dangerous working conditions in its Chinese supply factories, with advocates from China Labour Watch (CLW) all previously campaigning for improved welfare.

Earlier this month, an investigation by CLW and Green America found that one of Apple's assembly plants in Suqian, China, was responsible for endangering the safety of up to 20,000 workers.

Following similar accusations regarding the welfare of factory workers in 2013, Apple claimed that it no longer used hazardous chemicals, such as benzene and n-hexane.

The California-based company said that it required production facilities to meet the safety standards for the handling of hazardous chemicals as set by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

"The new report demonstrates that in the 16 months, Apple has not made progress with this supplier to improve conditions for its workers," CLW said in a statement, referring to the findings of its most recent investigation.

"In spite of Apple's supplier code of conduct and commitments to prevent these violations, more than a year later, they persist."

According to the Mail on Sunday report, workers that fall sick with leukaemia in the factories are dismissed and denied continuing medical coverage, resulting in the bankrupting of families unable to afford medical treatment.

Foxconn, the supplier that runs the Shenzhen factory, has said that it is set to meet with members of Labour Action China to find out more about the leukaemia cases. It claims that there is no evidence to link the deaths to dangerous chemicals.

According to TMZ, Joy Corrigan, whose nude pictures are now being shared and distributed on websites like Reddit and 4Chan, was the victim of the same hackers who targeted celebrities like Kate Upton and Jennifer Lawrence.

Corrigan was first reportedly hacked in July. When she told Apple about the “crappy security”, she was reportedly brushed off and told to change her password, only to have her account hacked again days later.

She now plans to sue the tech giant.

The massive iCloud leak took place over the Labour Day weekend, with hundreds of photographs of celebrities in varying stages of undress posted on 4Chan by users offering more explicit content in return for Bitcoin donations.

The FBI has launched a probe into the incident and Apple has fixed a major security flaw in iCloud that could have made it vulnerable to hackers.

People in China are getting cancers because of all the pollution & lack of safety standards. Many cases of dumping toxic waste, recycling gutter oil, fake foods,.....

Apple is actually one of the few companies that is trying to do something different because people expect better from them. Unlike some companies like Samsung who have ignored the safety of their workers in Korea

She has posed nude before. I don't see the problem? Because it was not photoshopped?

Posing in underwear is different from private pictures of your tits and pussy or your boyfriend's dick half-inserted into your mouth.

No my dear boy. Really naked. She's not exactly what you call a maiden. The difference now is she's not paid for it. Dot think it's a morality question
