Look at the healthcare. Healthcare is universal. A good- honest Govt will take care of all the citizens under this umbrella. The recent “ nation-building” generation healthcare program (as translated from the Mandarin version) is a mockery according to many people in the streets.
Everyone who served NS or carrying rifles are nation-building generation, why only the older ones whom many of them did not serve NS entitle them a vague healthcare discount ?
Lets look deeper, the program also divides the elderly , some have the cards but some don’t have. Not a divisive plan ? You know, how ridiculous ! And they talk so much but say so little.
Are You are proud of your old parents carrying back a full pack of medicines ? So , is all about seeing doctors and hospitalization a big deal in the twilight years when others got Istana to breathe fresh air?
Or say, the card can buy health-food at 50% discount and a $ 200 cash every month a more wholesome living for your old parents?
You know, Politicising healthcare is a real bad move not to mention a wicked deed.
Now , look at retirement. CPF at first was a good vehicle for Singaporeans.
HDB flats are leased to leaseholders. The owner is HDB. As soon as the HDB -flat price gets out of control , the CPF money becomes tiny , there is nothing left for retirement not to mention the minimum sum after completing the loan 20 yrs later. So how the younger generation can retire in good shape in future. NO way !
Sell lease back to HDB? You people hear this kind of thing in the world ? They know you have no avenues to retire blissfully . But again, can the golden period sustains and rippling down to every Singaporean for another 50 years? Can the fairy-tale HDB price continues ever after ? The tragic story is at the end of the road.
Had the HDB controlled the HDB flat price fairly low at 10, 20 years ago, making HDB flats a non-commodity property factoring inflation , and PRs allowed to buy HDB flats only after 10 years of residence , Singaporeans would have enough to retire. This is a mother of all mistakes. HDB flats are shelters and not for profits or investments. How swanky the envelopes HDB flats have does not mean a thing, the purpose is to have a bigger space to live in . Anyway , it is too late already, HDB price up or down, Singaporeans also will see bane.
Another thing, day in day out, Malaysians travel in and out of Singapore , many of them are working in Singapore without permits , they do tiling, they do painting , they do all kinds of things, and happily earn sing dollars in exchange for bigger ringgits back home. Do we people know about it ? Yes , parliament debated this issue but did the parliament pursues further because this deficiency affects livelihood of Singaporeans? If Singapore allows this unfair practice to carry on, it also means Singapore is already part of Malaysia, then might as well we merge with Malaysia using ringgits. This is truly ironic.
So what is good standing in the line to buy Chicken wings or famous roti prata, does the drama serve a purpose to make life better for all ?
Elected people that becomes officials whom earn the lion share should think for the benefits of their people and not playing ruse with them.
The list is endless to talk about . We hope to hear more ground- breaking debates since we have already had 8 alternative voices in the parliament.
