The Agri-Food and veterinary Authority (AVA) of Singapore has responded to public queries about a shocking video showing a stray dog being killed during a dog control operation in Ang Mo Kio.
The video, which was uploaded online and shared on Facebook pages like Sg DogsLover, showed a mother dog which had been strangled to death by the lasso wire used to catch her. It is reported that the dog was still nursing 5 puppies.
outrage at the cruel and inhumane act. A police report was also made about the incident.
AVA explained that they have been conducting several dog control operations in the area in response to complaints but the trap used by the contractor in the video was modified and not approved for use.
The lasso stopper was set far too small for an adult dog with the mechanism only set to stop tightening after the lasso became about as wide as a human wrist.

AVA also said that the contractor had not been monitoring the traps he laid to ensure that any trapped animals were removed quickly. This is against their policies and AVA will be taking enforcement actions against the contractor.
Currently, the search is on around the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 area to locate the orphaned puppies
