Why PAP will continue to rule until 2030

Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Unhappiness on the ground and dislike for the ruling party doesn't always translate into votes for opposition. Voters will still grudgingly vote for the incumbent for as long as oppositions don't measure up to voters expectations.

NSP is still a ragtag army, SDP has yet to overcome that image problem, WP is still too small to challenge PAP. On the whole the wide disparity and disunity amongst opposition parties doesn't convince voters especially the fence sitters that an Multi party coalition gov is the next best option to PAP. All these are factors the hinder opposition camp from mounting a serious challenge to PAP.

PAP will continue to rule for as long as voters distrust for opposition is more than their dislike for PAP.

Singaporeans can really take a lot of shit lying down. Don't know whether it is plain inertia or fear of change or combination of both.

Am still sticking with the AUrvandil 2021 thesis.

Things will get much more interesting when PAP loses more seats. How will they react? They cannot create HC ceiling washing fiascos in every single opposition ward. With more members in parlaiment each oppo MP will also need to compete with his fellow oppo MPs to see who can make a bigger impact. We will have more robust debates.

The way I see it is to cut the PAP down to size is to go for AMK. Remove the PM and it will send a clear message. WP needs to work with the Opposition to gather the best team and with the weight of the opposition supporters door knocking each and every door in AMK at least 3 times there will be results. This will knock the sails off the PAP ship. It will also tell them that their plan to rule with a simple marginal majority will still cause them their leader.

Don't think Singaporeans feel ready to vote out the PM in the next election. Anger level not at extreme level yet. Best strategy is to continue chipping away at the weaker constituencies and then when the numbers are in, the PAP will know that no constituency is safe anymore no matter how boundaries are redrawn, and that's when the entrenched dogma can be seriously challenged.

Besides, my feel is that LHL will be stepping down in 2021. No point putting a super "A" team in AMK in 2016 as the odds that Sinkies will be angry enough to vote out the PM will be still low in 2016.

LHL is known for his intellectual ability but not his leadership ability. The next PM likely will have neither. 2021 is still the year to watch out for. 2016 is preparation for 2021. Laying the foundation, if you will

And we don't have established 2nd party as a ready alternative govt and it will take a while.

There will be little room and time for transition, the next batch of leaders would be thrust into position.

It is simply more advantageous for wp to gain more ground in other grcs. As long as the Pink One holds sway, meaningful reforms will not forthcoming, and the looting of the country will continue uninterrupted. It will only be time before the wp are bought over like the rest of the civil service.

I'm afraid your sense is wrong this time. LHL has expressly stated that he isn't keen on sharing power with anyone else. It was reported by the state-controlled media.

Of course he will say so for admitting that he is ready to share power equate to acknowledging that PAP is losing ground even before election. No politician will want to campaign from a position of weakness and enter the battle sounding like a defeatist.

2 party systems are highly overrated. I've seen the rot set in for good in NZ with my own eyes as a result of two parties emptying the state coffers and then some in order to win over the 3% of swing voter who'll decide the outcome of the election.

The end result is mountain of debt and a thoroughly spoiled electorate who expect everything for nothing.

Give me the Singapore system anytime.

LHL and his favored inner circle will never fall. This is because as PM, he has the power to gerrymander safe GRC's and put his favored there. Less favoured Ministers will be asked to stand in the risky GRCs.

As an example, when Uncle Goh was PM, he drew the boundaries of Marine Parade into a super safe GRC. The high incidence of votes he received were used to feed the propaganda that he was well loved.

After LHL took over as PM, he immediately redrew the boundaries so that Marine Parade took in many of neighboring risky constituencies. Add in Tin Pei Ling/Nicole Seah and Uncle Goh was cut down to size.

Come 2016, it is likely that Uncle Goh will want to continue to stand in Marine Parade. As it is ugly for LHL to force him out, the boundaries of Marine Parade will be drawn so that it will be a key battleground. If Uncle Goh wants to continue to be an MP, he will have to run the risk of losing to a Nicole Seah led team. The recent praising of Tin Pei Ling suggest that Uncle Goh will have to fight GE2016 with TPL on his team.

For AMK, there are concerns of a leadership challenge because of father's health. As such, AMK will be reinforced further to ensure LHL has a handsome win in 2016. In this way, he can then sell the koyok he is well liked and should therefore continue to be PM.

Also it should also be noted that Uncle Goh's son has expressed a strong interest to join politics. In GE 2011, many other sons and daughters were given MP positions . Uncle Goh's son was however denied a spot. This is in spite of him having much better credentials that the other sons and daughters. As of now, it highly unlikely Uncle Goh's son will be offered a spot in GE 2016.

If not for the PAP, your mother and daughters will become prostitutes or maids in a foreign country and your father and brothers become odd job construction workers.

This fishing village has been transformed by the excellent PAP leaders to become a prosperous metropolis.

Everyone in the world admire this city state.

So, continue to vote for PAP.

Only clowns and losers join and partake in Opposition activities to spread lies and deceit.

If they succeed, Singapore will become a slum and you people will pay a hefty price for believing the nonsensical rubbish spewing out of their spastic retarded mouths via a anonymous keyboard.

VOTE FOR PAP in 2016 and Forever to have MORE GOOD YEARS!

Cheers!

Because the ruler very long ?

If opposition have been in power, I would have migrated long ago.

PAP provided good housing, infrastructure and decent cost of living for all.
The evidence of foreigners wanting to come here to make it as their home is the BEST EVIDENCE of the superb PAP policies.

I am sure that if Opposition comes into power, Singapore would have been a ghost town and we are still travelling in and out of an antique Paya Lebar Airport!
