Yep, its tough to differentiate the bullshitters from people who actually know.

the 1st remedy that comes to mind is a liquid gasket sealer, but to claim that it will seal it for good by adding into engine oil is pure bs. after a couple of weeks, the engine will leak but not as much. may be a drop here and there instead of a streak of oil. i've used it several times and seen the effects on many types of vehicles. the results were all similar. it is useful as a stopgap so you can have the luxury of time to replace the oil pan gasket, but it is not a permanent solution. don't bs here. you're now being exposed as a fraud and you just got caught blowing the horn.

i have check with a few workshop.the repair is $300.only problem is all say the same things.after dismantling out everything, they will use back all the parts.if any parts faulty, they will quote again.

knowing how sale works, likely they will say this one spoil that one also spoil.
if you dont repair, you cannot start the car.then you lan lan have to fork out another 1000 bucks,if not you have to tow to another workshop

from this thread,we can tell a lot of bullshitting.
Narong Wongwan the jail rapist cant provide a sensible solution:biggrin:

you spent over $60k on coe and at least over $70k on the car, and here you are scrimping and scratching over $300 for a repair job? the only part you don't want them to reuse is the oil pan gasket as they will have to scrape it cleanly off and get a new one plus silicone-like gasket sealant to be applied thinly before bolting back with a torque wrench. and if your oil pan is warped, you need to replace it. may cum up to $1300 parts and labor. chum change for a $130k car.

TS, you are not getting to the root of the problem. mixing oils does not help you alleviate the oil leak issue. send your car to the workshop to get it checked and repaired.

quality of combustion is only one of the reasons for engine knock lah.....even engine manufacturer's design engineers for the specific engines also learning from field feedback until the engine series is mature. No 100% cause and effect relationship applicable for all engines. i.e. tightening of engine block also got different pattern for some engines, if use universal way, some engine give problems.....and most ppl don't know what was done wrong:rolleyes:

Knock your head lah. engine viscosity means nothing in the tropics weather like u have in singapore. Whether its 5W, 10W, even 20W can also be used in Singapore. the viscosity of the engine oil is significant if you live in cold climates. There, the cold weather (0 degrees and less)can means u must put a a thinner oil like 5W, because it gets the moving parts better lubricated in the cold. In singapore weather, 10W-30 is fine, but you can also use 5W. engine knock has nothing to do with the viscousity of engine oil. Engine knock is caused by poor quality petrol, bad spark plugs, etc. its the premature detonation of petrol in the cylinders. Most cars for the last 20 years have engine knock sensors that adjust the fuel air mix to avoid this. In modern cars, u should never get engine knocking .

Bestest solution : Sell away this car, get yourself a new one.
All problem solve, no need to be suspicious of workshop intentions liao.
No headache of towing away car or gasket problem.

Only problem is got money to buy new one or not.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Why would you want to mix? If there is a problem with leakage go fix the problem and then replace all engine oil and the oil filter at the same time.
