When VK was first picked as JC, the fraternity was surprised. Not in the competency, academic or personality sense. So they turned to well known rebel in the form of Rajah and Tann, both founders were ex -PAP and known leftist protected by Bank of China.

A new era was born. VK as expected was rapidly promoted to a judge and then surprisingly elevated to the Appellate Courts where h made his mark of dismantling ridiculous sentencing guidelines and decisions. The judges down the chain got the message.much of the damage was due to old man man and his wife' shyest friend Yong Pung How.

Menon is as apolitical as they come not by DNA but by choice. He was mentored early by Nicky Tan who is as political as they come. They did the high profile Barings case. Menon thru out his career had been low profile as he handled the big corporate cases.

Interestingly the world of Mamas converged when Menon was JC, Durai was sued by NKF and Shanmugam acted for the plaintiff. During the proceedings, Menon had to tell Shanmugam to behave himself.

Menon also spent his schooling life in western countries as his father was a diplomat. He does not tolerate abuse, rank pulling etc. During NS, he took a very senior Officer to task for abuse of sports facilities and the Sr Officer was actually disciplined. The guy abused his position to impress a young chick.

And the MNCs became happy. The PAP has never does anything without a clear agenda and money in mind.
