SINGAPORE - A professional beer brewer was on Thursday sentenced to three weeks in jail for punching a cabbie and leaving him with a bruise on his head.

Scott Andrew Baczek, 39, pleaded guilty to hurting Mr Dieu Eng Hee, 42, around 10.56pm on Sep 28 last year.

The court heard that Baczek had boarded Mr Dieu's Comfort Delgro taxi earlier along Guillemard Road. He asked to be taken to Lorong J Telok Kurau and fell asleep during the journey.

When they had arrived at the destination, Mr Dieu woke him up to ask where he would alight but Baczek said, "level one," and fell asleep again. The cabbie woke him up again to ask what this meant but this irritated the American, who swore at him.

how is this possible? if not PR and just on work pass, if go to jail surely must be deporte. why the fook are we looking after these sort of people like citizens?

The story as related depicts the ang moh to be alone. One person, without gang, cabby also one person. What's wrong with a one-to-one showdown? What reason does the cabby have to call on a gang unless he is a cissy.

So many offences reflect the sad reality of Spore now. How low quality are our foreigner imports and how badly behaved they are. In other countries, it is the locals bashing and murdering the foreigners. Here, the offences show the other way round.

Well, it doesn't help if your government tells you that foreigners create jobs for you, or they add spice to the community and we locals must integrate with them and accommodate their ways. That said government is also utterly meek when dealing with foreign nationalities as it doesn't want to create a diplomatic issue.

Yes it is PAP's fault that they keep drumming wrong ideas into the foreigners. Until the foreigners think that we owe them a living, they come to Spore to work is doing Spore a big favour. When they first come here, they are not so brazen, it is the constant govt talk that embolden them to behave in a bad manner.
