Singapore to match Johor's new Causeway tolls 'in next few weeks': LTA

Singapore will match Johor's new higher Causeway tolls "in the next few weeks", said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Friday night.

"As details of Malaysia's toll revisions were not made known to Singapore earlier, LTA would need some time to operationalise the changes," said a spokesman. Should Malaysia reduce or do away with the toll charges, Singapore will follow suit, he added.

First of all PAP is the one created this furore by increasing VEP from $20.00 to $35.00!

Now they talk as thou it was JB ~ ICA has increased and LTA shall follow suit! wtf!

PAP think of nothing except money! they don't solve problem! they collect more money! No brainers job!!

Just like ERP more JAM means collect more money NOT SOLVING the jam problem!!

Who doesn't know?? you put a Primary 6 student as CEO he also knows how increased price and NOT solved the

JAM problem!! the COE stay put at $60K to $70K range ~ damn good money!! I am sure LTA staffs get 12 months

Bonus end of the year!!!

Now the chia liow bee minister said it's two different matters, VEP and Toll totally different!! wtf!!

Sometimes on Friday evening I go to the Queen St bus terminal and see many happy faces queuing patiently waiting their turn to board the buses back for the long weekend. When u see happy faces radiating u also feel happy for them.

Now with the scums doing a tit for tat battle to rake in revenue on the toll and entry charges, these 5000 daily commuters have to pay for their folly.
It sadden me to see children trode across to attend school in the wee hours. These are innocent children and workers going over daily to get an education and to earn their spread for their family tables.

How far and how uncivilised will the leaders go to make life more miserable for the ordinary folks..???

Wonder if Spore can get a deal which restrict Msian cars coming to Spore but allow Spore cars to go to Msia at negligible cost. If they can, my hat off to them!

SINGAPORE – If Malaysia introduces a new Causeway toll or raises toll charges, Singapore will “match the new toll and increase in toll charges in due course”, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said today (July 28).

(Now act blur as if it was the Malaysians who started raising the charge).

Noting that the Government “has not received any communication” from Malaysian authorities on these measures, an LTA spokesperson said the Singapore Government has sought from Malaysian authorities official confirmation of media reports about changes to the Causeway toll from Aug 1.

(This statement confirms that recent govt statements that the two govts are getting along fine is one big piece of bullshit).

The spokesperson said that “it has been the Singapore Government’s practice to peg Singapore’s tolls to match those set by Malaysia at the Causeway and the Second Link”.
(Trying to play the innocent, and childish to say the very least. Just like the school bully who said "he started it first!)

Earlier media reports said that Malaysia’s Works Ministry announced a revision in toll charges for all vehicles, except motorcycles, passing through the Johor Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex to and fro Singapore and Johor Baru from Aug 1.
(What a fcuking useless statement from a govt. Why wasn't the KL govt approached to verify before issuing such a juvenile comment!)

Currently, private cars entering Johor from Singapore only pay a one-way charge of RM2.90 (S$1.13). The increased rates will see cars paying a total of RM16.50 for a day trip to Singapore and back. Taxis will have to pay a total of RM8.20 for a two-way trip, up from RM1.40, while buses will have to pay a total of RM13.30 for a two-way trip, up from RM2.30.

The move to revise the toll rate comes fresh on the heels of Malaysia’s plans to introduce a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fee for all foreign-registered vehicles entering Johor. (Even the MSM is jumping into the blame game; nothing new, I guess).

On the proposed VEP, the LTA spokesperson said Singapore had earlier contacted the Malaysian Government to seek details, and is “awaiting Malaysia’s reply before deciding on our response”. (William Wan should go and talk to them, telling the LTA CEO that the least he should do is to wait for a reply before shooting his big arse-hole of a mouth off!)
