Why do you think they selectively spun what a few veterans said into a full blown story, and even went to the extent of highlighting that the interview took place at a nearby coffeeshop? You are obviously aware of their tactics and methods, yet chose to post the TNP article without further qualification.
This kind of dissent happens in every party, including and especially the PAP; the only difference is that PAP cadres are held together by socio-economic interests, which you also know are partially funded by taxpayer dollars. So it begs the obvious question why you and TNP have your sights both trained on the same entity, namely the WP, when there is an 800 pound gorilla out there laughing its way to the bank everytime you and TNP do this? And by the way this 800 pound gorilla is raping Singaporeans with its CPF policies and FT policies and that is where things are going to come to a boil, not some fucking internal WP gossip.
You also know very well, even if you don't admit in public, that PLG is a moron and a charlatan, his long record of groundwork notwithstanding. Even if he was not a moron, he would never have appealed to the newer generation of voters, and anyone with two bits of grey matter between his ears would know it would have been wrong to field him in Hougang. A long record of diligent work is not enough in politics. You have to have the right chemistry with the changing slate of voters. All this, you also know.
As for Sanjeev, anyone who thinks he has a shred of dignity or credibility left ought to gouge out their own testicles and feed it to the dogs. His missives to the press were calculated to achieve maximum political damage, but fortunately voters are more interested in what the opposition can do to challenge the PAP than the rabid rantings of a sore loser. Assertiveness, arrogance, haughtiness come with the territory. Politics is not made up of Church ministers and Buddhist monks who must show serenity and utter lack of ego at all times. In my view, PLG is anytime better than PEH, in terms of articulation, public exposures and profile etc. The truth is, prior to 2006, when we walked in Hougang, we could only hear people uttering two names, Ah Lau and Ah Poh. Who is Png? He was basically a totally UNKNOWN entity in Hougang until he was fielded as candidate for the by-elections.
Unless they were fielding some extremely bright people, there is really no justification whatsoever to give PLG a pass while putting PEH up as candidate. There is absolutely no value add in doing so, apart from being a loyalist.

When I first read what you wrote, I was flabbergasted and feared the worst. I thought the party was hijacked and LTK and SL held pretty much hostage. Read Wong Hong Toy, Ling Howe Doong, Poh Lee Guan etc
Then I found out the makeup of the new CEC and it clearly showed progress and reflective of their growing popularity and desire to step up to the next level, Swee Bee, Jane and Frieda, Hong Boon etc should not feel bad at all. They did their part and sacrificed a lot especially the first three. They helped lay down the strong foundation and should be proud when it was in the wilderness and few people bothered to come forward. Completely understand the disappointment but renewal can be harsh yet necessary. Many of us will remember the good work and selfless help given that changed the tide.

Honestly, PLG is truly a moron. It does not matter if he contested 5 GEs. Sanjeev should realise that if he was Chinese, nobody would have given him a second look. The PAP GRC setup put the smaller parties in a difficult position when it came to minorities.

I don't think as a man, Goh Meng Seng can appreciate that it is so much harder for a woman to pluck herself up and get into the thick of the game. Then again empathy was never his strength except where it involved scrutinizing those who had angered him. That's when the female intuition surfaces and you get long, winded, gossipy postings from him. His blog posting reads like a housewife's wet market gossip column.

Poh Lee Guan having been a WP candidate is at least something. You are right he doesn't deserve some names.
Then again, he (and you) were fielded as candidates until better ones came along, so that means he isn't necessarily superb either. This is natural progression.
Didn't PLG also become known because LTK and WP gave him the chance? This was in 2001 and the 2 were the only candidates. In 2006 Png didn't even contest or join. How to become known?
Seems the TNP found the angle they needed from GMS.
The WP looks to the future not the past. Otherwise someone like Eric Tan would have been in parliament as NCMP. Deserving though he was , it did not fit with ambitions of the party. Do not underestimate LTK.
