Five Ho Chi Minh City-made miniature submarines will be shipped to Malaysian tourist resorts in two months to be used for recreational coral exploration.

Phan Boi Tran, a descendent of the patriotic scholar and talented diplomat Phan Boi Chau (1867-1940), simply called his invention “diving equipment.”
The US$3,500 subs are being produced in a factory deep in a meandering alley in Binh Tan District.
“These first-generation subs will be rather slow," he said. "They'll travel at between one to five nautical miles per hour, and will be able to dive to depths of up to three meters for around two hours.
“That much time is enough for tourists to discover a few underwater mysteries,” he said.
With years of experience working for French submarine firm Comex, Tran won local fame in 2010 for successfully piloting his sub, Yet Kieu 1, which he named after a Vietnamese hero who used his swimming and diving skills to sink invading Chinese ships during the 13th century.
This batch of tourism subs were ordered last May by a resort investor for coral diving.
“They are looking for a service that stands out,” he said. “Other concessions, like parasailing or water-skiing, have become too dull.”
The 60-year-old said the dictionary defines a "submarine" as an underwater boat, though he described his invention as much simpler than what the word might evoke in the average person's mind.

Well, msia can take a leaf from the imperial Japanese navy by packing explosive at the nose of the craft and turn the mini sub into human guided torpedo.

at US$3500.00, it a steal for smugglers to bring weed into spore.

Smuggling pot into Peesai is not worth the effort - the market is too small, and the punishment is overly severe. There used to be an easy way for ant smugglers dumping off anywhere along the railway line anywhere between Woodlands and Tg. Pagar and going back to the spot later to retrieve it. This way it is possible to carry about 4~5 kg, one duffel bagload, but how much can one make for this amount? At most a couple of thousand bucks, not worth it considering death sentence for smuggling this quantity. For the same sentence, heroin is more worthwhile as it sells for more, much more. In any case, for effort/money ratio, other "crimes" are more rewarding in Peesai. Running a church isn't a bad idea.

Cheers!

Singapore doesn't have any enemies so sore with her for wanting to launch an attack. If there really was any mission against Peesai, an attack would more likely succeed via a covert invasion of plain clothes tourists or workers. Once in Singapore, they can assemble bombs, posion food/water/medical supplies, sabotage fuel depots, carry out arson on hospitals, schools, instituitional buildings, transport systems, and then leave quietly by legit means without ever being suspected. The SAF and police won't even have the chance to aim a rifle at any enemy.

Cheers!
