I see many businesses closing from Shops to stalls at hawker centers. Things are really bad in Spore. That's is why there are so many desperate people who want to get their CPF.

If I understand your message correctly, Mr. ABC was a bankrupt (I assume he is an undischarged bankrupt), and he borrowed $25,000 from you, in exchange for $25,000 worht of cheques issued in his wife's name.
Let's assume Mr. ABC borrowed the money from you, and assume that you have documentary evidence to substantiate the loan to him.
I am not giving you any legal advice, and this is only for discussion purposes, and it may not be 100% accurate because I have forgotten the bankruptcy laws of Singapore (learned from the 1980's).
Since you lent him the $25,000 after the date of bankruptcy, whether or not he is an undischarged bankrupt, you are not bound by "the stay of proceedings", and you should try to contact him to recover the $25,000, because you are a post-bankruptcy creditor.

It's sad but yeah, I think it's normal for so many to be called bankrupt these days. I think no one's exempted from this. While the magic of celeb may elevate the status related to specific individuals, this does not mean that everything celebs touch turns to gold. Many of them have also experienced bankruptcy. But rentals are still going up. I am making good money from REITs and rental properties. That means there are enough successful businesses around. In the next GE, I am confident PAP can get at least 65% support, due to its fine management of the economy.

Too darn right, my friend. My Sis is in the property management line, her office staff have had to ask many commercial tenants to leave already. For non-payment of rent. Many more are soon to be thrown out too, because they are already in rent arrears.
