from the looks of both, no contest. sg wins! thanks to the pap for cumming out with such a grand iconic design (a retractable dome). the brand new levi's stadium, which opens today in santa clara, looks like a ton of bricks. yucks!

actually the levi stadium looks pretty interesting when u learn more about it.....very nice open air concept for the great weather in america.....made of recycled materials where possible....solar panel power grid......envrionmentally friendly....very modern and progressive and american....

that's the problem. one has to learn more, dive deeper, and discover hidden nuggets. the first impression from the parking lot is a flat, rectangular building as boring as a ton of bricks. it would be breathtakingly iconic if the architecture exhibits a gold rush theme, either as a gigantic chinaman hat or a humongous round gold nugget. :p

the new apple corporate hq will be truly iconic when completed....

Perth's new sports stadium will cost about $860 million in 2014 dollars, 60 per cent of which will be provided by the taxpayer.



The new Perth Stadium will be open for the 2018 AFL season.


A multi-purpose venue capable of hosting AFL, rugby, football (soccer), cricket and entertainment events.

Initial 60,000 seat capacity.
A ‘fans first’ approach to design and technology.
An integrated public transport approach that includes rail, bus and pedestrian solutions.

The new Perth Stadium will feature ...
roof coverage to more than 85 per cent of its seats,
a bronze facade that reflects WA’s geology,
LED lights that show home sports team colours,
and a wide range of ‘fans first’ facilities including two of the largest video screens in the country.


There will be over ...
1000 TV screens,
4G wifi access
600 bike racks,
two giant screens,
70 food and beverage outlets
as well as 1500 toilets. (There will be more female toilets than male)
cup holders in every seat.

The design of the sporting and recreation precinct which will surround parts of the stadium will feature Dreamtime stories and will have three distinct recreational spaces.

The western section of the precinct will be house ...
an amphitheatre,
two children’s playgrounds,
picnic areas
and a boardwalk

while the community sporting oval to the north will be available for public use on non-event days, as well as providing event-day parking.
