I think if you work on contract, like football players/ship crew/ offshore oil and gas, no need to contribute to cpf.

The freelancers too, do not need to contribute to CPF.
Of course, they can volunteer to do so to 'meet the minimum sum', as put forth by the ever optimistic Tan Chuan-Jin.
