GST increase is to help asset-rich political cronies enjoy life for eternity.

Elderlies staying in HDB have to "Sell their HDB flat and move to live with family members or to a smaller flat or Studio Apartment (SA).... Join the Enhanced Lease Buyback Scheme (LBS) where the household sells part of the flat's lease to HDB and retains a 30-year lease, and use its net proceeds to top up their CPF RAs, join CPF LIFE, .... Rent out their HDB flat or spare room,... reverse mortgage": (10March2014: Singapore Budget 2014: Reverse mortgages for elderly HDB flat owners being seriously studied: Khaw, News, News, AsiaOne Business News)

However, for those staying in private properties/ own pte properties: "For the asset-rich, cash-poor, 'we have additional premium support that will consider their situation on a case-by-case basis,' he said, and encouraged anyone needing help to write to the government. " Health Minister Gan Kim Yong: (03July2014: MediShield support for asset-rich, cash-poor, AsiaOne Singapore News)

So asset rich Singaporeans in freehold landed properties are treated BETTER than asset poor HDB ones who have to sell, rent out, lease by back scheme just because these 'asset-rich' people can use lawyers to " write to the government" is it!!!??WTF?!! ##@!?%#@#%÷π√|√÷×!!.
Either that or Minister Gan KY is just being much too liberal with his $$$ in anticipation of a revenue bonanza from increase GST to 10% just after GE 2016 (3 big warning announcements by DPM(1x)/PM(2x) in Picts appended below).

Wonder if asset-rich people are also entitled to get increased GST vouchers, transfers/ rebates too...

Me thinks that these PAP folk are really earning themselves so much bad karma that they will most probably have to suffer many lives in hell for torturing poor people at every policy turn, just to feather the nest of their asset-rich-crony friends during their short lives on Earth.

'No' to permanent subsidies for asset-rich, cash-poor
I APPRECIATE that the Government is looking into offering MediShield support for asset-rich, cash-poor Singaporeans on a case-by-case basis ("MediShield support for asset-rich, cash-poor"; Thursday), but it is important that subsidies are not made permanent.
In the short term, people with assets can still find themselves unable to make ends meet, when they encounter unexpected situations such as temporary unemployment.
It is unreasonable to expect them to sell illiquid assets quickly in these situations.
However, if these situations persist for longer, then it is a case of bad financial management.
If a person finds himself in a long-term low-income situation while holding on to assets, then the solution is to sell these assets, which he is unable to upkeep anyway.
While it is endearing to hear of people with little income trying to hold on to their inherited property, the correct thing for them to do is to sell the property so as to make ends meet, instead of looking to the Government for help.
Other taxpayers should not be funding the sentimentality of people in long-term asset-rich, cash-poor situations.

Asset-rich, cash-poor should be prepared to downgrade
REMISIER Teo Hoon Seng called for the MediShield scheme to be more equitable for the asset-rich, cash-poor whose annual home values are more than $21,000 ("MediShield support for asset-rich, cash-poor"; Thursday).
If necessary, these home owners could easily monetise their properties, provided they are prepared to downgrade and adjust their lifestyles.
Those who sell property they purchased decades ago will enjoy capital gains. They can use the sale proceeds for their retirement and to buy an HDB flat.
It is unfair for people to complain that they have little cash and seek subsidies from the state, if they are reluctant to dispose of their properties.
