It is no secret that all the public hospitals in Singapore are fucked up (some more than others), so be mentally prepared for bad experiences.
Then again, if you're LKY, Mugabe or some other tinpot dictator, you can definitely waltz into TTSH without a need for a lengthy waiting period. You'll also receive attentive care from the best doctors. And yes, there should be no bed shortage for you.

Actually up to the 90s, our public hospitals was well known and well regarded in the region. Our helipads was quite busy ferrying in sick expats falling ill in some part of Asia.
Then it went downhill very rapidly. Nursing quality dropped with Pinoys and PRCs. Followed by doctors from 3rd world countries to carry the load compounded by a huge influx of foreigners.

My actual experience with A&E department over the years, had been satisfactory, except only one occasion, when we went there without any ID with a neighbour child who fell down at 3am in the morning. Most recent, was last year, when I myself, had to check in A&E, with a referral letter given to me, by my doctor...who said, I should go there in case I got very sick over the weekend.
It was Saturday, A&E was packed to the brim, I was attended to not immediately but within normal timing despite so many people there, the medical person attending to me was a Filipino female, what was unusual was, normally, when you draw blood, it is usually done from your right or left arm, but she poked my fingers for the blood. This is not wrong..in fact, this is faster....but first time I seen it done. ( in Philippines, they do it that way). That was something I learnt that day.
BP was taken, ECG was done....I managed to see a doctor within an hour....was kept there for observation for 6 hours, 3 of which I had nothing to eat or drink...and began to freeze a bit...( this I told them, wouldn't do). I was attended by a heart specialist who happened to be ON DUTY ( my lucky day). The entire visit cost me was it $93 or $95, CASH! or Ezlink....( not $8).
What surprised me most, was, the next day...that was Sunday....the heart specialist called me on my mobile to check if I was all right & I should go see the doctor again, the following morning. This was TTSH.
Maybe, I was lucky?
Symptoms of migraine could be masking a more serious problem. Until that person sees a doctor no one knows for sure.
It is no wonder that people are heading to the A&E. Seems like that is only way to get onto a shorter queue.
