The 2014 Fifa World Cup will be screened live at an additional 17 Community Centres (CCs) due to "overwhelming interest", the People's Association (PA) announced on Thursday.

The live screenings at an initial 40 CCs had met with "positive feedback" from residents, the PA said, with over 250,000 so far attending the live broadcasts.

The additional 17 CCs are: Changi Simei CC, Clementi CC, Hwi Yoh CC, Jurong Spring CC, Kaki Bukit CC, Kampong Chai Chee CC, Kim Seng CC, Nanyang CC, Pek Kio CC, Queenstown CC, Siglap CC, Taman Jurong CC, Tampines East CC, Tanjong Pagar CC, Toa Payoh East CC, Ulu Pandan CC and Yew Tee CC.

Residents can contact the CCs directly for the latest match screening schedules, the PA said. The screening schedules are also available on www.pa.gov.sg

One more thing that is rather curious about that picture it's a live screening so all the matches take place at night. You can see the outside of the cc at the entracne and it looks like it is day time that doesn't look like florescent light.

6am game played well into almost 8am....hot sunlight liao
Or photo taken during the 9am Japan game on one day.

There are some sports events on tv which you simply should not make it a pay-per-view e.g. the World Cup and Olympics.

Everyone should not forget that the PAP and the PA are one and the same.

The latter masquerades itself as a non-partisan, community/social bonding club.

so sad football so unaffordable.

Yes, indeed. In first world countries, most people can afford to watch the football matches at home. Or they head to the pubs for the camaraderie.

What kind of life is this when simple pleasures have become so unaffordable?

You need a good pair of glasses Mr Joe, the chioest of the lot is the one right in front wearing the full white. Take a real good look and I dare you to tell me I am mistaken.

Some reasons why people dont subscibe yet watch from CC foc - not worthwhile paying, protest, cant afford. If the latter reason, very sad, isnt it? We are first world.
