SG has 3rd most pinoy workers in the world

According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Singapore now ranks third in terms of the number of Filipino workers employed in a country outside of the Philippines [Link]:
POEA is the Philippine agency governing the export of Filipino migrant workers. It aims to achieve “excellence in governance for world-class Filipino migrant workers”.
POEA connects to the world and, in partnership with all stakeholders, facilitates the generation and preservation of decent jobs for Filipino migrant workers, promotes their protection and advocates their smooth reintegration into Philippine society [Link].
The number of Filipino workers working in other first world countries is much smaller compared to Singapore [Link]:
It said that this is the 9th consecutive month in 2013 that personal remittances breached the US$2 billion mark. As a result, full-year personal remittances from OFs reached US$25.1 billion in 2013, an increase of 7.6% from the year before.
“The sustained rise in personal remittances during the year was driven by the robust growth in remittances of land-based workers with work contracts of one year or more (6.1 percent) and transfers of sea-based workers and land-based workers with short-term contracts (7.8 percent),” the central bank said.
It revealed the major sources of cash remittances:
POEA also reported that approved job orders totaled 793,415 for 2013, of which about two-fifths (40.9 percent) were processed job orders mainly for services, production, and professional, technical, and related workers.
Meanwhile, in the recent saga concerning celebrating Philippine Independence Day in Orchard Road, the Philippine news media have given a lot of coverage of PM Lee defending their celebration.
Philippine news media, ABS-CBN, reported (‘Singapore PM defends Pinoy celebration vs critics‘):
The remark, posted on Lee’s verified Facebook account on Saturday, asked Singaporeans to “treat people in Singapore the way we ourselves expect to be treated overseas.”…
It was reported that Rychie Andres, who co-chairs the Pilipino Independence Day Council Singapore (PIDCS), called PM Lee’s post “nice to read”.
It also reported that “many supported Lee’s unequivocal stance”.
“Of course there would be people who want to disguise their xenophobia as ‘national pride.’ I don’t understand why people should kick up a huge fuss over an innocent celebration for Filipinos who have worked so hard to contribute to our economy. It’s not as though they were asking to hold it at the national stadium on August 9. Live and let live,” said one comment.
Several others called out for punishment to those who have harassed the Filipino event organizers, like a comment saying, “Hope authorities will catch up with these trolls and give them a good warning! I thought there was [an] anti-harassment law?”
The ABS-CBN also reported one Singaporean taxi driver said he envies Filipinos because his impression is that they could work for five years in Singapore, and then afterwards go back already to their homeland to buy a house.
As a local, he has no chance to improve his lot even if he and his wife would work, he said, because children’s schooling is very expensive, just like hospitalization.
“It’s very hard here,” he said.
