The main point is for what kind of purpose. Is it for X-training, running or .... etc

best would be those that have a metallic toe-cap - a kick to the nuts or bush to ward off aussie male and female hooligans / racialists

It's a matter of preference because you are unlikely to use them for running, However the Old man & Steve Jobs were seen using New Balance.

I use them because NB has walking shoes that don't look like runners e.g. plain black, brown,..

Not big into exercise like jogging or gym workouts, but I walk and cycle as often as I can. Don't wish to spend large amount on shoes, so the most affordable I've come across and purchased is Anta - a PRC made running available at Sports Link. Serves it purpose and just as comfortable and sturdy as expensive brands like Nike or Adidas.

Cheers!

Maybe they weren't paying enough to someone & lost the sponsorship:smile:

I've been using New Balance for ages. Back when I was an active runner I used their running version & now that I that I'm older I use their walking shoes. My current pair is a black pair made in the US http://www.amazon.com/New-Balance-M...1398226208&sr=1-1&keywords=new+balance+mw+812

I got them from Amazon because I find there is a better selection & also cheaper. If you are looking for Timberland shoes they are also cheaper there

I do not know how the different brands of running shoes measure up against one another. Just wanted a pair of shoes for brisk walking and outdoor use when I cycle (20 inch foldup bike). Last year I was at Sports Link and was looking at a pair for $39, and was thinking about it when the sales person started his sales pitch saying it was the brand used by the PRC athletes to make it sound better. I didn't care about that and just wasn't eager to spend eighty bucks or so for a pair of exercise shoes (many were above a hundred bucks). Anyway, the shoes fit well, quite comfortable, and suits the reasons I wanted it for. For that price, I guess its okay.

Cheers!

for a poor Peasant like me, I go Sungei Road,
Hunt for 2nd Hand, even 3rd Hand,
"Double Rabbit" brand.
sometimes only $1 a pair.
bargain to 90 cents.

If you use runners for running a good pair is worth the investment. When I was younger I was using a Nike Tennis shoe for running & had problems with shin splints:o A sales guy at Footlocker recommended New Balance & after I switched to NB shoes I didn't have the shin splint problems.

From that experience I learned that investing in a good shoes is worth it. However not all brand names are durable or comfortable. I'm satisfied with the New Balance model brand.
