That's right. If they didn't, it would be gross negligence not to review it, as it is taxpayer's money. Wonder why the auditor general never follow up on his comments. I wonder if all the Ministries pump in money like that without looking at the business plan. He claims no need to look as the University or others businesses themselves will have a solid business plan. All business plans look good until you open the door. Thanks for the up.

If it was their personal money, perhaps, they will be more careful and prudent.

To be accountable, they should authorize the relevant govt agency to "invest" or "grant" the "taxpayers' money", as if it their personal money, so that they do not waste "taxpayers' money"

EDB under Philip Yeo was virtually given a licence to break the rules. And he did that on so many occasions. When he left EDB for Spring Singapore, the auditor general moved in and wrote out a litany of things he did in Spring. Imagine when you hire a FT talent and pay him well the guy becomes bold and wants as part of his package a job for his wife in the same Govt institution and this was granted and not some admin post.

Why only when the spouses of 2 BGs demising of cancer would it trouble you when there are tens if not hundreds dying everyday in our hospices and hospitals? You just have to go down to NCC anytime and you will see how crowded the specialist clinics are.

Another two dropping dead close together is just a random coincidence statistic. Dont make them more special. No matter how atas your status when alive, once you are dead, all become dust and ashes. More equal than our Singapore laws.

I think Philip Yeo just looked at the ends and the means were secondary. At least the ends for him never meant fattening his pocket or playing safe. Too bad he decided to have a public tiff with one Miss Lee.
