In 1972, when the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Japan established formal diplomatic relationship, Mao Zedong met the then Japanese Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka. When Tanaka personally apologized to Mao for invading China, Mao responded: (You) don't have to say sorry, your country had made a great contribution to China. Why? Because if Imperial Japan did not start the war, how could we communists become mighty and powerful? How could we overthrow KMT? How could we defeat Chiang Kai-shek? No, we are grateful and do not want your war reparations!"


the original statement is pretty close to this. Kakuei Tanaka should ask Mao Zedong to return the gratitude by formally conceding Diaoyu islands to them then.

This is not a parliamentary apology, 2 dickheads are drunk at dinner table talking nonsense.

Australia Kevin Rudd was the best, apologise to the Aboriginal. Rudd is a Chinese trained Englishman unlike Howard, pure stubborn Englishman.


Englishmen style of nonsense can be seen and replayed in their movies they write, for example, Jurassic Park, Harry Potters and Aliens movies. IN Jurassic Park movie, story line ended with an undisclosed egg awaiting to be next nonsense to come. Next change, so they can milk movie ticket profit again.

Not to waste their new found technology creating dino figures, the next show is all 100% profit margins from recycled dino figures.

The Red Army did put up a fight against the invading Japanese forces .The fact probably was that Mao directed only 30 to 40% of his strength against the Japanese, 10% to holding off the Nationalist armies and reserved the remainder for post war struggle for power which Mao was certain (as was Chiang) would come once Japan had been defeated...

the CCP fighting the Japanese must be the biggest bullshit of the 20th century. Mao Zedong's war policy was 70% expanding territory ( grabbing territory from the KMT, not the Japanese ), 20% dealing with the KMT and 10% resisting the Japanese.

during the war, the Japanese troops crucial supply lines to Southern China for the battles were the Jingguang and Jinpu railways. the CCP's forces were concentrated near the railway areas. just name me one battle which the CCP forces fought to harass or disrupt the Japanese troops operations along those 2 railways. there wasn't any battles. the CCP troops stayed in their areas or fought the KMT troops. the Japanese and their puppet troops left the CCP alone as long as they don't disrupt the Japanese lines of communication. the CCP evaded the Japanese as much as possible during the war. they can boast of only 2 notable battles in 8 long years and the 2 battles were very much exaggerated. Chiang Kai Shek compared the CCP to Ming rebel Li Zicheng's forces which would be the important destabilizing factor to turn the war situation to the Japanese's advantage then.

Mao Zedong said his heartfelt words. he said similar words to a Japanese visiting delegation of government officials and lawmakers in Beijing 1950s. just imagine if the US president thanked the Japanese for Pearl Harbor because if there was no Pearl Harbor, the US would have no reason to enter the war. the US public backlash would be massive and the president would be forced to step down. i don't understand why the Chinese seem to treat Mao's words as something of a joke.
