SINGAPORE — He started making unsolicited visits to his victim’s flat after becoming attracted to her. He also insulted her mother.
For his peeping Tom habits and asking a woman for sex, Mohamed Haryfan Mohd Razali, 21, was yesterday sentenced to 12 weeks’ jail.
He met his 19-year-old victim, who lived opposite his block in Pasir Ris Street 71, in the middle of 2011. Mohamed Haryfan, who had done his National Service with the Singapore Police Force, was instantly attracted to her and took note of where she lived.
Between July 2011 and May last year, he made about six to eight visits to her flat in the hope of seeing the girl. Although she and her family were aware of the visits and even made police reports, they were unable to ascertain his identity.
In one incident on August 2011, the victim was about to go to bed when she heard a sound outside her room window. She spotted Mohamed Haryfan’s silhouette and ran to find her mother, who shouted “Who’s that?”.
In anger, the young man asked aloud if he could have sex before running away.
Mohamed Haryfan was arrested on May 18 last year.
For insulting the modesty of the 44-year-old woman and her daughter, he was sentenced to six weeks’ jail on each charge.
