sihkies kenna screwed by him as Chairman of the Public Transport Council Gerard Ee says an overall fare adjustment of 6.6 per cent in one go is very high. So, to minimise the impact on commuters, the council will do part of the increase this year and roll-over the rest to the 2014 exercise.

Sinkies are pretty well off by world standards so I can't see what sort of harm a small increase in fares will do once in a while. After all the fares are very cheap in comparison to other countries.

In London, the tube costs £ 3.80 for a short trip from Piccadilly to Wembley.

If Singaporeans want a high standard of living eg Swiss, UK, Norway, Sweden etc, they have to be prepared to pay a bit more for the privilege.

If they want a Chinese, Cambodia, Viet standard of living, I'm sure the fares could be lowered along with the big fat salaries they now earn.

wahlau we are amongst Swiss, UK, Norway, Sweden etc, standard of living,

They don't bother working. They just get stoned and sleep on the streets waiting for death to relieve them of their misery.

Swedish government in dilemma over cushy lives of homeless population

Europe, Human rights, Psychology

Sweden’s “home for all” welfare system has presented the government with a problem – given the generous benefits handed out to those on the streets; some have no intention of changing their situation.

Together with free food at charity kitchens and accommodation at shelters, homeless people receive ample state handouts which even allow them to do a little shopping. As a result, some people choose to remain homeless.

“You can eat nice food. You can sleep until 12:00. I think Stockholm is a good place,” says Bjorn, a homeless man who has not had a roof over his head in twenty years.

Cut out the moronic laughter at the end of most your posts. It doesn't come across well.

Gerard is "wear n tear" condition. Since he spoke up for the SMRT track condition;
being a PTC chairman.
