Jalan Berseh shan Zhong bao turtle soup did change since the old man gone but I think his wife had done a relative good job retaining her husband recipe. I think she have difficulties and her son who used to help out when the old man was around is currently MIA. I suspect he a regular at changi resort as he once appear sporting a resort haircut.

There a turtle shop stall at hong lim market, same row with the outram ckt stall. Operate by an old man with two aunties. I won't say they very good but can provide your with a choice when u r in town. But they only operate at lunch period, ard 11am to maybe 3pm only on the second floor. I think there another stall on the first floor but I won't recommend it.

the wife sometime very inflexible.
i tried ordering 1 bowl ( soft shell + liver only )
she say NO.die die must mix with meat, she say if everybody order like this, who eat the meat.

i tried other stalls..they say no prob.can order like this

Certain meats taste bad or smells bad even when cooked. Thats when the herbs come in. It does not mean that the dish is healthy. We do that to fresh water fish as the smell is quite strong even after cooking - smell of the river bed.

You can tell when something is healthy after herbs when they taste good without herbs. Bak Ku Teh is a good example. Your body cools down and you feel much better.

i think you refer to the L shape hawker with the carpark in the center.(very unique design)
it is still there today

actually i prefer the unhatched egg ( small orange in color )
they burst in your mouth when you chew it.
usually sold for $2 / $3 per bowl
the shell egg smell like our semen when unskillful cooked

anyone tried the turtle soup at havelock road?
happened to discover it today but they started washing up (at 2pm) so no chance to try it.

the rank of shan zhong bao at jalan bersah has drop again.their soup seem inconsistent sometime taste good.some time waste bland.now they got 1 china man to assit.

managed to test the turtle soup at havelock.
order $10 combo (meat ,skin,liver)
very average nia.
soup very dilute and salty, hard to taste any herbs.
portion of meat very generous for a $10 bowl .
choose white rice instead of yam rice.

guess i will not visit again.
but good for those who wants to avoid traveling far or to town to have a bowl of turtle soup.

For cooling, plain rice with fish soup would do just as well.

Used to go around Geylang looking for good turtle soup. Found a couple of stalls along the Lorongs 30-40 in the past, but quality changes very rapidly from good to bad so not worth mentioning. There used to be one at Lorong 40, you can add in additional herbs/herbal oils when the soup arrives if you feel it is not powerful enough. Used to eat one full bowl of the soup together with $5 omelette.

Now given up totally on turtle as can't find a good one that remains good for long.

somehow you are right.
nothing remain good all the time.
the good 1 will employ the china workers to cook for them while they go casino.
the lousy 1 will continue to use the same method to cook.

so far so good, the 1 at mac pherson remain relatively consistent

Long ago my father has a provision shop in Malabar Street, there has this road side store selling turtle soup, daughter of this store also has goodest complexion, she likes me and I like to smell her body fragrance, we always hold hand and take the same bus to school in queens town area (while texting this make me cumming). Jean Yap's father is selling chicken rice at night, quite good to eat, Kok kee wanto mee also there. After I move to Outram Rd I lost contact with them, quite sad.
