The bus terminals keep changing till I gave up on checking the current status of it

I don't think the mrt/rts station location is confirm yet, it is moving like goal pole on paper. The property developers are just playing the game to sell their property & confusing the buyers. Use your brain , even the bus terminal are moving like goal pole ,as most of them are temporary mobile location & following/moving with the big boys of the developer. Only can confirm when they built at the permanent location!!!!!!!!!

Is it really going to realise? Read the header from ZhaoBao that there will be high speed train from Kun Min China to Singapore. That will be real great!

I recall reading something to that effect 10 years ago. No harm being hopeful i suppose.

Malaysia-Singapore high-speed rail on fast track
KUALA LUMPUR, May 13:

The Malaysia-Singapore high-speed rail project, which will shorten journeys to slightly more than two hours, has been described as a game-changer that will boost economic growth on both sides of the Causeway.

The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) plans to complete Phase 2A of the High-Speed Rail System (HSR) to connect Kuala Lumpur and Singapore this year.

This includes government-to-government engagement and agreement with Singapore.

It also entails technical surveys, socio-economic analysis on the five HSR stations, environmental analysis along the track alignment as well as setting up a dedicated HSR team.

The details of the project, set to be Southeast Asia’s first high-speed rail track, were contained in the Economic Transformation Programme 2013 Annual Report released yesterday.

SPAD said the National Economic Advisory Council gave the approval for it to proceed with Phase 2A.

The report, released by the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu), said that in June 2013, SPAD presented results of the Phase 1B Feasibility Study to the council, which gave positive feedback.

The study included an economic benefit analysis and a strategic implementation plan. It also identified the required technical and engineering components for the project.

The Malaysia-Singapore HSR project, which would shorten the rail journey to two or two-and-a-half hours, has been described as a game-changer that would serve as a catalyst for economic growth on both sides of the Causeway.

From enabling time savings for daily commuters, estimated at 400,000 once the rail is operational, to attracting multinationals who want to take advantage of the improved connectivity between the two countries, the possibilities for value creation from the HSR are immense.

The five HSR stations reportedly include Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Malaysia.

On the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project, the report stated that the construction of the MRT will approach its peak in 2014.

Key performance indicators (KPIs) for the year by MRT Corp, established by the government to develop the MRT project, comprise 90% completion of elevated piers, 80% completion of elevated guideways, 80% completion of tunnel construction, and 80% completion of underground station excavations.

The agency has also introduced new safety-based key performance indicators at MRT construction sites to increase awareness.

The MRT project made significant progress in 2013, with work continuing on the system’s elevated guideway foundation and underground station excavation following the delivery of 10 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) to various sites.

In June 2013, SPAD presented its final implementation plan for the MRT Line 2 and Line 3 to the Economic Council. The plan is now pending approval from the government.
As Malaysia’s largest infrastructure project, the construction of the MRT project has some challenges to overcome.

Nonetheless, MRT Corp has implemented innovative methods to overcome these challenges, such as by utilising high-tech equipment, diversifying resources and training the workforce involved in the project.

It seems when it concerns KL, transportation projects move very fast. There was recent report of a 3rd MRT line being planned in KL linking to Klang. There's been a long silence on the JB-SG MRT link progress although it is a mere few km long compared to those full-length lines in KL.

The announcement on JB's RTS station location, alignment, and overhead/underground is due to be made at end of this year (initially planned for Dec'13). The expected commencement date (from my deduction) is now 2019 instead of 2018, in conjunction with 2019 opening of Thomson Line.

This involves big money, so there are now various power-play among JB developers to ensure that their project is nearest to the RTS. For me, its a toss-up betw R&F, Vantage Bay (Peter Lim) and Zon (Vincent Tan) on the final location.

KL's rails are internal decisions, while JB-SG RTS depends on bilateral negotiation. The RTS repercussion on SG's economy is huge. Any failure will make it into international news. I think SG government is very cautious about the entire implementation to ensure that it doesn't drain SG's competitive advantage.

S'pore-Malaysia ties 'run deeper than material interests'
Maryam Mokhtar
The Straits Times
Thursday, May 22, 2014

The ties between Singapore and Malaysia extend far beyond material interests, President Tony Tan Keng Yam said yesterday, citing their shared history which includes the turbulent days of World War II.

It is crucial that this common heritage be passed down to future generations, he added.

He was re-affirming the strong relations between the neighbours at a state banquet for Malaysia's Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and his wife at the Istana.

Earlier in the day, the Agong and his wife Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Sultanah Hajah Haminah Haji Hamidun received a ceremonial welcome at the Istana.

Dr Tan, in his speech, said the common past makes it "especially fitting" for the Agong, as Supreme Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces, to make a stop at Reflections at Bukit Chandu tomorrow. The museum honours the Battle of Pasir Panjang, where some 1,400 outnumberedMalay Regiment troops made a stand against the Japanese. "Such sacrifices by our forebears are well worth our remembrance and reflection," said the President.

Cooperation between the two countries has grown, he noted.

Dr Tan said the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur high-speed rail, the Rapid Transit Link with Johor Baru, and Singapore's cooperation in Iskandar Malaysia are collaborations that will let both sides realise their combined potential.

In his speech, the Agong said he was confident the various initiatives agreed on by both prime ministers would continue to improve connectivity between their countries and bring their economies and peoples closer together.

"Both countries should continue to promote interaction among our peoples, especially our younger generation so as to ensure that the friendship will be much stronger in the years to come," he said.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Ho Ching will call on the royal couple today.
