Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has urged Singaporean youth to give back to society as he noted how much better off they are than their counterparts in Europe.

Speaking at Teck Ghee Community Club on Sunday, Mr Lee said that there are millions of European youth who are done with their studies but cannot find work, a situation that will scar the rest of their lives.


Singapore is fortunately not in that predicament, he said, expressing his hope that the future will be even better through the collective effort of the Government and the community, especially those who have succeeded in life.


PM Lee was speaking at the launch of the "PAYM Loves Red" campaign, a two-month-long movement by the People's Association's youth wing to express patriotic pride in the lead up to National Day. Over 100 activities have been conceptualised and organised by 6,000 young people.

I fully agree with Mr Lee. Singaporeans take their jobs and prosperity for granted without realising that 99% of the world is far worse off in comparison.

Those who think that Singaporeans are getting a bad deal should try living abroad for a couple of years. They'll soon realise how much more capable the PAP is compared to most governments around the world.

If the leader is pocketing millions and living in luxury on the people's money, he has no moral authority to tell the people to give back. Why is he not giving back ?

2016 is the time to give back again.

In the competitive world that we live in today, compassion cannot be part of government policy as it would hamper the progress of the country. Economic competition today is like the wars of yesteryear. It's a fight to the death and the strongest and the smartest win.

However, there is nothing to stop Singaporeans from being compassionate towards each other. You don't need the PAP to be involved when it comes to showing some care and consideration towards your fellow citizens.

At the moment, all I'm seeing is Singaporeans arguing with each other and fighting over "Hello Kitty" dolls or spitting at each other over an MRT seat or cursing each other for no reason whatsoever. It would appear that sinkies treat each other far worse than the government treats them.

You can hardly blame the government for that. You either have to blame yourselves or your parents for not giving you a proper upbringing.
