4 boys arrested for handphone theft

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested four boys, aged 10 to 12 years, for handphone theft committed at a community club in Jurong.
On Jun 27, 2013, the boys entered the community club and struck a conversation with the victim.
Meanwhile, another suspect was seen taking the victim's handphone which she had placed nearby.
Upon discovering that her handphone was missing, the victim immediately made a police report.
Officers from the Jurong Police Division then conducted extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations and managed to establish the identities of the suspects.
The four boys were arrested on July 1 at their homes in Taman Jurong and Jurong West.
The stolen mobile phone was also recovered and seized as case exhibit.
Investigations against the boys are on-going.
Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Wilson Lim commended his officers for their quick response and prompt investigations which led to the arrest of the suspects.
He would also like to remind members of the public to always safeguard their belongings and to never leave them unattended as a precaution against opportunistic thieves.
