The new Singapore Third Series coins will be available at retail banks from June 25.

SINGAPORE: The new Singapore Third Series coins will be available at retail banks from June 25.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said all past and current series coins will remain legal tender and valid, and the public can continue to use them for payment alongside the new coins.

For more information on the new coins, visit www.mas.gov.sg/newcoins

Heard from some thai guy that the current 1 dollar SGD gold coin is "blessed" and is good to keep one in the pocket wherever you go. Some feng shui logic I suppose.
Not sure if this new set of coins retains that "blessed" element.

Owner of the coin vending machine will angry because they need to pay money for the contractor to change or calibrate to adapt to new coin.
Another way to milk money and create job.

If u look carefully, the $1 still retains the lucky feature. The sign of Ba Qua (octagon). In fact, 1 small, 1 big :-)
