Mitarashi dango stall....

Sweet dumplings (balls of rice-flour dough) ...I love this....sweet and nice...yummy yummyyummmmm....
These are balls of kneaded rice flour on a bamboo skewer which are basted with soy sauce while cooking, scorched until they are ‘fox red’, then eaten. Another very popular delight found in Japan....

Thanks, iLS, I remember this little store.

This store is at the junction of the road from a shop where they serve very good ramen.

Excuse the blur photo.

Hida Beef sushi ....ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hida Beef (top-quality beef)

Because of the excellent quality and flavor of the beef from Hida steers, raised in the meadows of Hida’s plateau, it is the best beef for meat dishes such as steak and sukiyaki. Dairy products are also known for their high quality.

We tried this Hida Beef sashimi. For me, it was just okay - not easily digestible and chewable. I had to chew twice as hard...but still couldn't make it.

Fun for kids, couples, families and friends.

The hotel is located in the Shinshu (Nagano) prefecture, backbone of the Japanese archipelago, blessed with numerous water resources. This prefecture is surrounded by 3,000m class mountain ranges including the Northern Japan Alps and the Southern Japan Alps.A beautiful place for morning TaiChi.It's like Switzerland with all the picturesque scenery and surroudings.Simply beautiful...

Hiking in Japan - The Nakasendo Trail

Magome to Tsumago

This place has a rich history and the route used to be one of the 5 ancient highways from Edo (Tokyo) to other parts of Japan. This highway is to Kyoto.

This is a good place to stay, the wife speaks English.

This region is hilly. For some reasons, it wasn't crowded when I was there. Maybe because it was drizzling.

Since I am walking only one way, it is nice to pay someone to to deliver my lugguge to my destination. The service is between the 2 tourist info centers in Magome & Tsumago.

When you finish the hiking, you can get a wooden Certificate of completion.

Tip: Magome to Tsumago is less uphill, easier route, compared to the opposite direction.

Evening. No tourists, Good for photographs. I dragged my luggage up this path. :(

Nice Very nice. Must visit one day.

Wear yukata ? Easy to expose legs when you sit down

I found a technique to stop the belt loosening, put a small towel between the belt and yukata. Do you have other tips on how to wear the yukata properly.

Any hankie pankie at the onsen at night? unisex?
