Target 10,000 people for White Paper Protest 2
The Facebook page for the second protest against the Population White Paper has been set up:

The first protest was staged on Saturday, 16 February 2013 at the same venue. At least 3-4K people, with some estimates going as high as 5-7K (counting transient crowd) attended the first protest (‘More than 3,000 Singaporeans brave rain for public protest at Hong Lim‘). Singaporeans who were at the event braved the rain to listen to a panel of speakers addressing concerns over the Population White Paper.
It was a significant event because it was by far the largest public protest against government policy in the history of Singapore since independence. The news made headlines across the world with a number of international news agencies covering the event. The South China Morning Post even published the news on its front page.
Gilbert Goh, the President of transitioning.org, told TR Emeritus (TRE) that he hopes to hit a target of 10,000 people for White Paper Protest 2.
Mr Goh is also asking the attendees to make more placards for the second protest.
He said, “If you are attending the protest, please make a personal placard so that Hong Lim Park is rocking with protest placards!”
“There are probably less than 100 placards on the first protest but this time round we hope to get at least 1000 placards flashing around for our next event. Let’s have a rocking time on labour day and hopefully we can breach the 10,000-crowd mark. What say you Singapore? Can we count on you?…cheers!”

“This is a labour day sequel protest against the 6.9 million population white paper and other matters that affect Singaporeans. Locals and foreigners are all welcome to join in this labour day protest and we are expecting a 10,000-size crowd. If you like to speak at the event please email [email protected] and we will get in touch with you. There will be light pre-event entertainment at around 3.15pm. Please design and bring along your personal placard so Hong Lim Park is rocking with protest placards! For media enquiries, please email [email protected]. See you soon Singapore!”
The second public protest is scheduled on Labour Day, 1 May 2013, which is a public holiday, at the Speakers’ Corner (Hong Lim Park). It is organized by the same organizer, transitioning.org, of the first White Paper protest, ‘Say NO to 6.9 million population’.
