Hugo Chavez: Breaking the Chains of Zionist Imperialism......Opposite of Lee Family !

Standing firm against the US oil giants, Hugo Chavez nationalized Exxon Mobil’s Venezuelan heavy oil assets in the Orinoco Belt in 2007. This coming after returning to power after a CIA-led coup in 2002.

Chavez also supported Presidents Rafael Correa (Ecuador) and Evo Morales (Bolivia) in their struggles against Zionist control of their countries.

Demeaned in the Jewish-owned Western media as “insane” or worse, Chavez left a legacy of progress in his country. Over the last decade in Venezuela, poverty fell by over 20%, income inequality went down, unemployment fell 50%, medical services have been expanded to those that never had even a clinic, and Venezuela was recognized as a leader in providing free internet access for its citizens.

Chavez created a government that invests 60% of its income in social programs for the benefit of its population, instead of for the benefit of the elite.

Chavez provided free heating oil to poor Americans who could not afford the high prices charged by US oil companies. Since 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, the program helped over 400,000 people, mostly the retired and elderly and others who were let down by the poorly funded (Low Income Energy Assistance Program) that was subjected to 25% budget cuts.

When torrential rains in 2010 left over 130,000 Venezuelans homeless, Chavez responded with an initiative named the Great Housing Mission whose goal is to provide 2 million affordable housing units for needy families within 7 years. With almost 300,000 units already under construction, the program is in contrast to the US response to the 2008 financial crisis, which provided bailouts only to the banks.

Despite a lagging world economy, Venezuela posted 8 successive quarters of GDP growth; unemployment continues to fall and minimum wages rose every year; the oil sector grew at a rate of 1.6% while the construction, finance, transportation, community services/non profits, and communications sectors all grew at rates exceeding that of the GDP.

One of the greatest achievements of PM LHL is to have the highest salary for a civil servant. Don't forget that he has to be assisted by his father & seat warmer who are also paid millions:eek:

Venezuela has oil. It has made about $1 trillion in oil income since 1999 when Chavez gained power.

With this huge amount of money flowing into the coffers with no effort required on his part whatsoever, buying votes by handing out scraps to the poor hardly put a dent in the huge sums collected over more than a decade.

In the meantime, Chavez's family has amassed a fortune of BILLIONs of dollars and it definitely hasn't been via his salary.

LKY is no saint but in comparison to this crook, he's an angel.

Greed is everywhere, just ask LKY, LHL, Ho Ching,....

The difference in Chavez's case is that he shared it with Venezuela's "lesser mortals"

Only those who didn't challenge his crooked ways....

A 2010 OAS report[SUP][96][/SUP] indicated "achievements with regard to the eradication of illiteracy, the set up of a primary health network, land distribution and the reduction of poverty",[SUP][97][/SUP] and "improvements in the areas of economic, social, and cultural rights".[SUP][98][/SUP] The report also found "blistering" concerns with freedom of expression, human rights abuses, authoritarianism, press freedom, control of the judiciary, threats to democracy,[SUP][99][/SUP] political intimidation, and "the existence of a pattern of impunity in cases of violence, which particularly affects media workers, human rights defenders, trade unionists, participants in public demonstrations, people held in custody, 'campesinos' (small-scale and subsistence farmers), indigenous people, and women",[SUP][100][/SUP] as well as erosion of separation of powers and "severe economic, infrastructure, and social headaches", and "chronic problems including power blackouts, soaring crime, and a perceived lack of investment in crucial sectors".[SUP][101][/SUP] According to the National Public Radio, the report discusses decreasing rights of opposition to the government and "goes into heavy detail" about control of the judiciary. It says elections are free, but the state has increasing control over media and state resources used during election campaigns, and opposition elected officials have "been prevented from actually carrying out their duties afterward".[SUP][102][/SUP] CNN says the "lack of independence by Venezuela's judiciary and legislature in their dealings with leftist President Hugo Chávez often leads to the abuses",[SUP][100][/SUP]

Reading this I was struck by how the same description could be used to describe Spore

The only difference is that Spore is pro-capitalist. They have allowed the americans, Brits, Aussies,...... to set up shop in Spore.

Every dictator will have his own formula for clinging on to power. That doesn't alter the fact they are despots.

The idea that Chavez was a kind, caring Mr nice guy is ludicrous. LKY is probably the kindest of all dictators. His opponents all died of natural causes or alcohol abuse. He didn't order the murder of anyone.

If without reading the thread header and footnote, I would have mistaken the above write-up for SINGAPORE!

Laughing out loud …

Another attempt by Western propaganda and special interest groups to hijack and corrupt public opinion.

Who is Sammie Leong to try and drive public opinion with regard to Chavez's legacy?

Shouldn't the legacy be left to the Venezuelans (and they alone) to judge?

Stop stereo-typing … form your own opinion instead of quoting others!

Enough research will tend to support whatever theory!

LKY was an oppurtunist who took advantage of his position after he was elected. The mistake Sporeans made was in trusting him too much.

If LKY had blood on his hands I doubt Sporeans would have supported him nor would the Brits. Malaya would have probably stepped in if Malays in Spore had been killed. So LKY had to act within the constraints of that time. It's the same with Chavez. I was actually surprised by the outpouring of real grief that many Venezuelens had over his death.

Chavez could have chosen the easier path of selling out to the west & just collect the $$$. However he didn't do that & instead sided with the interests of the aborigines & the "lesser mortals" of Venezuela. That is something Sporeans can appreciate.

He didn't "side" with them out of altruism. It was simply part of his political gambit.

LKY screwed the rich too when he first gained power. Swaths of land owned by wealthy Singaporeans were acquired for a song. He then built flats for the poor, gave them flushing toilets and running water and electricity for a paltry sum of less than $7000. The poor loved him.

The land was acquired from poor farmers & not wealthy Sporeans. It's always easier to take from the poor instead of the rich: e.g. banker, towkay.

I don't know about $7000 flats because that's before my time. How many years savings was that equivalent to:confused:

The poor farmers did not own the land. All they were doing was paying ground rent.

The average wage for a primary school teacher at the time was $500 per month.

Agree.

He played his cards well and right. And that got him the loyalty and votes of the poorer masses for decades to come.

Let's see, if primary school teachers earned $500/month & according to you a place to stay cost only $7000. Then a primary teacher would only need to save about 14 months.
I don't know what primary school teachers make today but I doubt they could earn enough to pay for a HDB flat if they worked only for 14 months. Is this what you call progress:confused:

If poor farmers didn't own the land then why did they pass the land acquisition act and why did the gov't pay for this land?
