Wonder who is financing this piece of dung ... who's main objective is vendetta and
to spoil WP chance to winning @ PE.

Lim confirmed with Yahoo! that his band of volunteers, most of them students who had just completed O-levels,
were given money for food and transportation, but declined to reveal how much they were paid. On Nomination
Day on Wednesday, a group of over 50 student volunteers came dressed in party colours and carried SDA flags
in the supporters’ area. However, they sat quietly in a corner and talked among themselves, while supporters
from other parties, notably the PAP and Workers’ Party, tried to outchant and outcheer each other.

If he is so confident of winning, even by a 1% better than his 4.5% votes, why waste money on students to help him campaign? He has no supporters to do the job for him? where was his other committee members, all hiding to avoid associating with his wayang?

Hope he is mindful of the need to keep his campaign budget under the legal requirement.

Each 16yo keeps a timesheet to clock the dollars per hour they will get over 8 days of the campaign. It can't be cheap. They are there for the cash and don't give a toss about politics.

Understand from the media, it is $5 for lunch money. The volunteers can also claim transportation costs.

Simple math based on these assumptions:

50 Volunteers X (10 hrs/day X $10 Hrs X 10 days + $10 meal allowance X 10 days + $30 Transport allowance X10/day)

= 50volunteers X 10 days X $(100 + 10 +30)

= 500 * 140

= $70,000

these "customer ambassadors" are paid $7.5/hr according to the ad.

when asked if he'd put up an ad to attract paid helpers, he actually had the cheek to reply along the line of if one doesn't publicise one's event, people wouldn't know abt it so can't turn up to help out. his ad didn't even say what the event was! just job description and how much he's paying. sibeh jialat la he.

does anyone know who the rest of his party are? can he just decide these things on his own?

When posting a job advertisement to try to recruit volunteers, he said the job was for "Company Ambassadors"

I guess if he told the truth (he was looking for campaign helpers for SDA), no one would join him

As long as he pays a decent sum, I don't see why a few people with nothing else to do before their Polytechnic term starts would not want to join.

I find a waste of his resources when his deposit is likely to be forfeited. He should use online to plea for genuine supporters. If he can't even get a handful of genuine supporters to walk with him, He is doomed in this BE - the WORSE THAN LAST result could tarnish him and his party FOREVER.

Desmond is going to lose his election deposit, no way a person who cannot speak proper English is going to enter parliament.

There is nothing to criticize about Desmond paying for volunteers. That is better than he show up as lone ranger. A man needs to do what it takes to accomplish his goals. Desmond did just that. People need to admire his creativity instead of criticizing just because they don't like Desmond.

By the way, I don't fancy Desmond much too. Hope he will get the message and quit politics or return to be Lena Chiam's helper.

He probably already did try to get genuine supporters and failed.
That should have given him the message that he should have pulled out before nomination day.
