anybody in the 3rd world making not more than sgd12k per year would want to qualify by flooding into sg and seeking naturalization. all they have to do is displace a sinkie worker for low end jobs and wait for 20 years. they would have earned sgd240k in 20 years plus an easy cash bonus of sgd500k when they reach the threshold. they would cash out and leave. most stupid proposal i've ever heard.

What eligibilty is there to talk about when your place is so flooded with FTs that
any FT can come in.

it will only make more sense if eligibility is confined to those who have "productively" helped build sg from the 60s to the 80s. you need a cut off date. any open ended entitlement, free dough or "welfare" will become a monster beyond one's control. and there's the huge question of equity. what makes reservist private ah kow selling char kway teow making hundreds of thousands more deserving than captain ah meng who is highly educated but repairs computers for a living and barely makes ends meet?
