There is only one God in Sinkieland, and it ain't the Catholic one.

This god greater than the god, in which the Archbishop prays to!!, we are more than conquerors, Romans 8: 31," What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?"If God is with him, who does HE fear?

The Catholic Church has always maintained the position that it will not involve itself in political activities. We have always worked in harmony with the Government to contribute positively to society, rather than set ourselves on a collision path with the Government.

Lucky he did not send the letter if not his church also close shop . Pap is more powerful then his god , and he knows that

Not many people are aware that the only religious order that has a long standing history of facing up to this Government is the Catholic Church. This goes back to the early 70s and there have been 4 distinct episodes. The first two involved the deporting of Vincent Cheng mentor of that time. The second involved a nun working in Bukit Ho Swee with the community and she was finally forced back to Carmelite hostel. The 3rd involved the Church property in Punggol where certain individuals gathered including Francis Khoo the late husband of Dr Ang Swee Chai. The 4th is the well known operation spectrum (Marxist conspiracy)

No other religious order has the balls to push this government. Catholics by nature are more lilkely to call out injustice when they see it.

The Catholic Church has always been on a short list where this govt is concerned. The Archbishop has to be careful that not to push the envelope. What Alex did was not right and he probably did not tie all this events together.

By the way, Hougang is where the heaviest concentration of Catholics are. The Teochew Catholics are unbelievably tight knit

Archbishop Chia's balls probably shrank when he was summoned to appear before the 'SANHEDRIN' ISD's Minister in charge, Teo Chee Hean.

Even St Peter the 1st Pope chickened out and denied his association with Christ three times , terrified when confronted by a lowly maid of the Jewish high priest before the cock crew.

The worst Catholics are all the Catholic MPs and Ministers. U cannot count on them to side with the church when the push comes with the shove.

The Catholic Papies are there to ensure the Archbishop and the priests toe the garment line. They will report anyone trying to be funny back to Lord Valdermore.

Written the letter wanted to send out, but suddenly ball shrink because ISD is looking at the matter. Retract statement.

I just like to know why catholic like to meddle with politics. Can't they be like Pastor Prince, KONG HEE FA CHAI or the Magician Pastor at FCBC ? Keep your mouth shut and do what you do best.

Like Pastor Prince, NCC partner Capital Land Mall to build the shopping centre in the Buona Vista. They are like paying protection money to the govt.

KONG HEE FA CHAI is insane, he wants to be like FREE MASON. He wants to build his own network of churches and member, using Singapore as his base. But unfortunately, things did not work out because of her spendthrift wife and his cronies.

Catholic church are very powerful group of people in Phinoy land, but they can't replicate that success in Singapore.

I think the perception that Teochews are overwhelming Catholics is incorrect. There are actually more Teochew Buddhists or Taoists in Hougang and elsewhere in Singapore. The Teochew even has their own Teochew Buddhist sutras and specific Buddhist ceremonies performed according to distinct Teochew percussion.

Now today the govt is again throwing in the word "Disrespectful". A sense of deja vu? Recall that BG Yeo told Sinkies to be cognisant of who's big and who's small, and the way to speak to yr elders and leaders..

So, is Alex being disrespectful? And is the MHA the only one who decides what is respectful and what is not?

How about respect for democracy, free speech, truth? How about the elected respecting the electorate?

Is it that when the govt cannot get its way with the people in a frontal forthright argument or debate, it must resort to calling them "disrespectful"?

Garment still wants to treat u like a bunch of 3 year olds. The Catholic Church no different. Going to church now is like going back to primary school. Dress a bit skimpy, talk a bit loudly - kana scoldings and go stand in a corner!!

I think you are making a point here, albeit obliquely.

Are you saying that the Church and the govt has reached a kind of unwritten understanding not to step in each other's way - or rather- the Church has agreed not to take on the govt since the last fracas, and that any "cho-chok" from a third party like Alex is an unnecessary provocation that would earn the wrath of this govt who will firstly warn him not to be disrespectful to what the Archbishop had done to come to terms with the govt?

It is sure looking like the govt is now trying to distort and twist the whole thing around to depict Alex as the villain out to sow discord between the Catholic faith leaders and the govt, and to disrupt religious and social harmony that will justify another use of the ISA.

I think we should keep things in the proper perspective. To me, Alex was only bemoaning that going by the past example of the Church and govt face off, and how this govt is in the habit of intimidating and cowing adversaries or perceived adversaries into submission if not silence, and ruefully blogging aloud if this is the spirit behind the national Conversation, then nothing will change at all.

Once we let the govt throw in red herrings, and create a diversion, we'll forget all about a rogue govt and get conned into tilting windmills at 'rogues' that the govt points us to.
