When asked about this, Mr Ravi said there were conditions on how the doctor could divulge information of his medical evaluation and to whom. The doctor could only do so after he had examined him and after Mr Ravi had seen the report. Also, the report was to be made known only to his law firm partner, Ms Violet Netto, and Mr Ravi’s younger sister. Neither was informed of Dr Fones’ diagnosis before the letter was sent to the Law Society on Monday.

Moreover, Mr Ravi said Dr Fones had seen him for only 10 minutes on Saturday, and thus questions if that is enough time for the doctor to assess him and to say that he had had a "relapse."

Mr Ravi maintains that he is well and that this was ev)dent in his behaviour in Court on Monday. He says that the fact that Justice Pillai allowed him to continue with the hearing and to make his submissions showed that there was nothing wrong with him.

Also, he said, the Court room was packed in the gallery with members of the public who would have noticed if he had acted unusually. He also questioned why, if he was having a relapse as Dr Fones claimed, were his law firm and family not informed, and why only the Law Society was informed about his alleged conditions.

Finally, Mr Ravi asked why Dr Fones had not prescribed him any medication, if his diagnosis was a serious one.

I fully agree PAP mercenaries and all internal agents must be thoroughly cleaned. Is Dr Fones being bribed to take the risk of disclosing other people confidential informations. Two ethical issues now come to light - Singapore law society is a lawless society, Dr Fones seriously violated the secrecy act.

All the above came with agenda in mind - to do ravi in. If they are not PAP lackey who is?:oIo:

Law Society - We did not try to prevent Mr Ravi from appearing in court

Responding to media queries from TODAY, a spokesperson for LAWSOC confirmed that it received the letter from Dr Fones, who is a doctor “appointed by Mr M Ravi, and not the Law Society”.

The spokesperson said: “The Law Society informed the judge of the contents of the letter as it felt that it was in the public interest to do so, and as officers of the court. To be clear, there was no application whatsoever by the Law Society to in any way prevent Mr Ravi from appearing in Court.”

The spokesperson added that the Law Society is “not in a position to comment on the contents of the letter, as this is a matter of a member’s confidential medical records”.

Meanwhile, the Attorney-General Chambers (AGC) has clarified that it “didn’t know about this letter at all”. Also, it did not ask that Mr Ravi be prevented from arguing the Hougang by-election case yesterday.

“It’s really done at the Law Society’s initiative”, Chief Counsel David Chong from AGC said.

Re: Law Society - We did not try to prevent Mr Ravi from appearing in court

Law Society in damage control mode? What "public interest" is it about to gate crash court proceeding while still claiming that Law Society has not in any way prevent Ravi from appearing in Court? Is Law Society so confused about what it is doing? Bumping into the court with a doctor's letter to claim that Ravi is unfit to be lawyer but yet, claiming that they are not trying to prevent Ravi from appearing in Court? Sigh!

Dr Fones or Fuckers or whatever must be investigated for breaching patient Dr confidentiality.

If found guilty must be removed from practice and deregistered.

With the current facts at hand it is clear dirty tricks are employed. LHL should be ashamed of himself trying his hand at his fathers dirty tricks. Why can't he just do a proper job at running this country instead of dirty politics?

So why is SMC not doing anything? Another bunch of syncophants?

I remember during my time, if one have an illness or medical condition, the good old doctor issue you a medical certificate, HR ask the doctor; the doctor will tell HR it is "medical confidential".

What happened to the Medical Confidential protection we get?, all our records are not CONFIDENTIAL, anyone can access your records!! The Singapore Medical Council should be brought to task over this Doctor.

Ravi in Wonderland

Should the Law Society be held in contempt of Court, having barged into a Court hearing uninvited and bringing the Court to ridicule?

The PAP may want Ravi out, but I cannot believe they will resort to this comic drama...... THE PAP HAVE MORE CLASS THAN THIS JOKE.

Re: Ravi in Wonderland

http://www.tremeritus.com/2012/07/17/lawsoc-we-merely-inform-the-judge-of-the-contents-of-the-letter/

The Law Society of Singapore (LAWSOC) had, in an unprecedented move on Monday (16th July) bulldozed itself into Court attempting to stop lawyer M Ravi from representing his clients, on two seperate occasions in the same day.

On the first occasion, Mr Ravi was representing Mdm Vellama Marie Muthu in her case to request the Court to declare that the Prime Minister does not have unfettered discretion in deciding when to call by-elections.

A representative from LAWSOC, Mr Wong Siew Hong had approached the judge in chambers (un-invited) and insisted on showing the Judge the “medically unfit” letter from one psychiatrist whom Mr Ravi has been seeing for his stress-related problems. Mr Wong reportedly also tried to argue that Mr Ravi should not be allowed to continue with the case due to his medical condition.

However, the learned Justice Pillai was unimpressed and admonished Mr Wong and the Law Society for it. He asked Mr Wong if Mr Ravi currently had a valid practising certificate, to which Mr Wong answered affirmatively. The Judge said that was the only thing he was interested in and said that since Mr Ravi had a valid certificate, he was free to act in Court.

“Justice Pillai made clear that the Law Society had nothing in the day’s proceedings,” Mr Ravi told publichouse.sg and TR Emeritus in an exclusive joint interview yesterday.

Undeterred, the same Mr Wong from LAWSOC tried it again in the afternoon in another Court where an associate from Mr Ravi’s law firm was representing the client. Mr Wong tried to get the Court to halt proceedings on the same ground (that Mr Ravi was unfit), but the learned Judge would have none of his nonsense and allowed proceedings to continue.

The Law Society should change its name to The Lawlessness Society. How can it interrupt a court proceeding without going through the procedures and without being invited? This is display of utter disrespect for the court and should be held for contempt of court.

The Singapore Medical Association should also come out and make its stand clear on this Dr. Foney guy who has breached his professional pledge and obligations to maintain doctor/patient confidentiality.
The association should also question his 10 minute consultation with Mr. Ravi and come to the conclusion that he is not fit to practise.

You wait long long, okay for SMA to speak up. The silence has been deafening regarding the less than honest Woffles Wu. No professional association will speak up against their card-carrying members lah.

This just reminds me of Gomez fiasco... One bayee por lam par LHL and say he " heard " and that
and another mamak coming in to say, " yeah yeah"... And George Yeo asking WP to do " what is right "... LHL declaring. " remove this albatross " at Fullerton... Everything backfire !

PAP never learns... Just as these new aspirants like Calvin Fones... Despicable !!

Bro, Is it before the same Judge Pillai again for the second round in the afternoon. If so, really LAWSOC never learn the lesson they got in the morning. If it is not Judge Pillai, who is the learned Judge in this second round? Thanks.
