Just a few years back, driving on expressways during off-peak period was really a breeze and free of problems.
Today, driving during on one "off-peak" hours is a nightmare. What about driving during the peak hours.?
The real answer is simple - Even fools and insane people know that the culprit is - "too many cars being added to the roads".
Today, whoever willing to pay an exorbitant price to buy a peice of worthless paper called COE (better known as "pang-sai-chua") is allowed to become another digit to the many users entering the fray everyday. The fight of driving space, walking space, living space, working space and breathing space is becoming an acute problem in this tiny nation.
Those willing to pay for these "toilet-paper are mostly the new-comers here who has a lot of dirty money with them and won't hesitate to "cleanse" that "dirty" money by making purchases of properties, COEs - cars and homes included.
Day in and day out you see the sinister wirds, "MASSIVE JAMS AHEAD" on expressways. Honestly how do you feel when you are driving and come across such a sign. Expressways as the name denotes is a "free movement area".
So the word "xpressways" is a wrong word to use in today's context. It should be crawl-ways, slow-ways or some other words that can be introduced.
Its a shame for the government to impose a toll (ERP) for users to use these clogged-up, tortoise-paced thoroughfares.
Its a bigger shame for people to pay for such use. Use public transport and allow it to further become packed.
LTA is only interested in making money. Go to their "treasury" at Sin Ming Road and you will see rows of "peasants" in queues to meet a "Tua-Pei-Kong" and then heading to pay the summones like a filial citizen.
How are we to advice these "leaders" on how to run these tiny nation of 3 million, ooops 5 million plus.??????????????
