I hope everyone boycott Cuntry Garden projects. They were one of the first pioneers from China who mess up the balance of the development of Iskandar with their Danga Bay project.. now they are messing up the balance near 2nd link. Better boycott them. If country garden succeed, all of us vested in Singapore west and Nusajaya will be screwed.

Errr......if you think they will succeed why not buy into country garden now? Doesnt make sence to boycott them.

I have many Spore-based friends who donno anything about JB projects. But they are all buying into R&F and Country Garden projects. Why? Because these two went head on in local TVs aggressively and these are probably the 2 biggest names that Sporean investors know of when they first ventured in JB.

Succeed or not, I really dont know that close proximity to Singapore is the biggest selling point

On the contrary, I think Nusajaya would benefit. IF CG can only build 1/4 of its land, they have to put in super condos at super prices to try to make money as land reclaimation is very costly. Whether the take up rate is good or not, it is any body's guess.

If they price it @ RM 1500psf I am sure many will still buy cos its so near to 2nd link and the view is awesome.

The size is also abt the same as Sentosa !

Perfect size & location for a casino cum theme park, just like Sentosa...... Country garden should do a JV with MGM/Caesars or Wynn, together with a great amusement park, hotels & sea-fronting condos.

Being an island off Johor mainland, they may just be able to pull off the casino thingy. Haha.....

If you read carefully, this 400 acres approval is just a show only. The federal government has to please both side.. Spore gov and the Johor king. After few years down the road, ppl will forget and the size will slowly increase back to the 1600 acres.

It is always flexible to do things in msia as long as you have deep pockets..

just came across this pessimistic article about iskandar. go read and give your comments.

http://drwealth.com/2014/12/26/iska...tm_campaign=JAN2015&utm_content=ARTICLE34_ECY

personally, i feel the climate right now is also applicable to spore. a bad economic situation always brings about sad economic news so I am not surprised as every dollar you lose in spore it's like losing 2.6 times more in msia. so frankly it all works in tandem. which investors don't lose or earn less during bad times and smile during good times? so far i dare not even look at RF or CG what they are doing because theirs are like mammoth projects with the sultan and anything with the royals are on a personal biz so not much is known. in nusajaya uem has laid out plans and with khazanah's involvement we at least know it's official. temasek has been involved with khazanah for years so we know there is consistency.

since we have to believe in something before we part with our money, I would say that I believe what uem is doing in nusajaya which include ph where I have a unit in encorp. 5 years ago if such news were out who would invest? now with 100 percent sales in most initial projects launched some years ago, ph is getting more vibrant by the day. and I think even with all the bad reports that we are reading these days, I don't think you guys here are as pessimistic as the writer who probably didn't know about ph for by itself, this area will become very liveable and for me to rest and retire with wifey, its truly ideal regardless.

"When you drive around Iskandar Malaysia, it’s not uncommon to see swathes of empty apartments with no one living inside"

This comment make me decide not to continue reading. Every month I drove around Nusajaya and failed to find any empty apartments with no one living inside.
I guess he or she must have been badly burnt buying those RM5000 downpayment to own a house tactics in Malaysia.

One shouldn't buy houses in Iskandar just because they can afford the RM 5000 downpayment and the rest till TOP. If you keep your senses and buy normal RM 1 million units with RM 300000 downpayment, its highly likely you are in the company of investors or owners who have strong holding power.

I for one shunned these RM 5k or RM 10k to own a unit as I do not want my fellow buyers to drop price by 90% just to have Forest Fire Sale.

Well, my opinion is the article is too general. It also leave an exit for itself by stating at the end, the train is slowing down but whether will it stop, yet to be seen. Iskandar , being such a huge area of various developments, there will be bound to have spots that will not do well and spots that will be hot. So, using examples of empty caveats in spots that is not doing well to generalise the whole Iskandar development is not going to affect me.

"The suspension of Forest City, a mixed-use development on four reclaimed lands, since the middle of this year has also been a big blow."

If this project had gone ahead, I think the author will be talking about how this project will result in yet another massive over-supply situation. Classic case of damn if you do, damn if you don't.

I feel we should be looking at the hard figures. Despite all the talk, how much has a bread-and-butter double storey house fallen in price over the past year?
