Police have arrested a 39-year-old unemployed man believed to be involved in a series of thefts at Jurong Point Shopping Centre.

The man was arrested on Monday after the suspect was spotted behaving suspiciously at a fast-food outlet by officers from the Singapore Police Force.

This was after the police had received at least 10 reports of thefts in the last few weeks, where the victims had their property stolen while they were at Jurong Point Shopping Centre.

The suspect had been in the midst of removing an unattended laptop when officers moved in and arrested the suspect before he managed to escape with the loot.

Commander of Jurong Police Division and Assistant Commissioner of Police Florence Chua commended her officers for their good investigative follow-up that led to the arrest of the suspect.

She added that no efforts would be spared by the police in tracking down those inclined to commit such crimes and ensure that they will be brought to justice.
