Large wild mushrooms spotted in Toa Payoh

Large wild mushrooms have been spotted blooming in the Toa Payoh area.

Liu Yong Li, 27, noticed the mushrooms last Thursday on 3 November when he was on his way to an appointment.

Describing the wild mushrooms as about the size of a dinner plate, he said, "They are whitish with a faint smell of the woods. They are quite fragile and one broke into four pieces after I held it by the stem for a short while."

The mushrooms are believed to have sprouted after the deluge of recent rains.

Curious about the large mushrooms, Liu did some research and found that it is likely to be the False Parasol mushroom. This species of mushroom can grow up to 40cm in diameter and is known to be highly poisonous.

It can cause severe vomitting and diarrhoea if consumed, so the public should refrain from picking the mushrooms for food.

Dont take the risk, Cos magic shrooms have flys running around it.

Best is to take a pic of it and go online and see if its edible or not.

flies buzz around shooms because they grow out of cow dung during the wet season
